   Eject the SIM tray

   Insert a SIM eject tool into the hole next to the SIM card tray on the side of the phone. Push firmly until the tray pops out, then remove it completely.

   Heat the back cover

   Use a heat gun or hairdryer to warm the outer edges of the rear panel for 2 to 3 minutes. This softens the adhesive holding the back cover to the frame.

   Attach a suction cup to the back cover

   Place a suction cup onto the lower portion of the rear panel. Pull gently upward to create a slight gap between the panel and the body frame.

   Insert a plastic opening pick

   Slide a plastic opening pick into the seam opened by the suction cup. Be careful not to insert it too deeply to avoid damaging internal flex cables.

   Slice the back cover adhesive

   Slide the plastic pick along the entire perimeter of the phone to cut through the back cover adhesive. Reapply heat if the adhesive becomes tough to slice.

   Lift and remove the back cover

   Carefully lift the rear panel away from the frame. If a fingerprint sensor cable is attached, disconnect it using a plastic spudger before fully removing the cover.

   Unbolt the midframe screws

   Use a Phillips #00 precision screwdriver to remove all screws securing the upper motherboard shield and midframe cover.

   Remove the midframe cover

   Pry up the midframe cover using a plastic spudger and set it aside to expose the motherboard components.

   Disconnect the battery flex cable

   Use the flat end of a plastic spudger to pop the battery connector straight up from its motherboard socket. This prevents electrical shorts during repair.

    Disconnect the screen flex cable

    Locate the display ribbon cable on the motherboard and use a plastic spudger to disconnect its press-fit connector.

    Heat the front display bezel

    Apply heat around the perimeter of the front glass with a hairdryer or heat gun for about 3 minutes to soften the display adhesive.

    Attach suction cup to screen

    Press the suction cup onto the bottom half of the cracked front glass and pull upward to create a small gap.

    Insert pick beneath screen glass

    Push an opening pick into the gap between the glass display assembly and the phone's plastic frame housing.

    Work the pick around all four edges of the front glass to completely separate the display from the frame.

    Remove the broken screen assembly

    Lift the display assembly off the frame, carefully threading the attached display flex cable through the slot in the midframe.

    Clean residual adhesive from chassis

    Use tweezers and isopropyl alcohol to clean off all old tape residue and broken glass shards from the frame ledge.

    Apply screen adhesive strips

    Lay down fresh adhesive strips along the internal perimeter ledge of the frame where the new screen will sit.

    Feed cable and seat new display

    Thread the replacement screen's ribbon cable through the frame slot, align the display carefully, and press it firmly into the frame.

    Reconnect screen and battery cables

    Press the screen display cable and battery flex cable back into their respective sockets on the motherboard until they snap in.

    Fasten the midframe cover

    Position the midframe cover over the motherboard and reinstall all the Phillips #00 screws to hold it securely.

    Reseal the back cover

    Apply new back panel adhesive strips along the rear frame edges and firmly press the back cover down to seal the phone.
