Step-by-step
- 1
Heat the back cover
3 minApply mild heat along the rear panel edges for two minutes using a heat gun to soften the frame adhesive. Keep the heat source moving to prevent localized heat damage.

Attach the suction cup
2 minPlace a suction cup near the bottom edge of the back cover. Pull upward firmly to create a tiny gap between the cover and the midframe.

Insert an opening pick
4 minInsert a plastic opening pick into the gap created by the suction cup. Slice through the adhesive by sliding the pick along the outer perimeter.

Remove the back cover
2 minCarefully lift the rear cover off the phone frame once all adhesive is sliced. Set the panel aside on a clean surface.

Unscrew the lower loudspeaker housing
3 minUse a precision Phillips screwdriver to remove all screws securing the bottom speaker module.

Remove the loudspeaker assembly
2 minInsert a spudger underneath the edge of the speaker module and pry upward to remove it from the frame.

Disconnect the main flex cable
2 minPry up the main interconnect ribbon cable press connector from the lower microphone daughterboard using a spudger.

Detach the antenna cable
2 minUse precision tweezers to gently lever up the coaxial antenna cable connector from its socket on the daughterboard.

Pry up the microphone board
3 minWedge a flat plastic tool under the daughterboard and lift it to break the mild adhesive underneath.

Transfer the microphone rubber gasket
3 minPeel the small rubber microphone acoustic sleeve off the old board using tweezers. Fit the sleeve securely over the microphone port on the replacement board.

Install the new microphone board
2 minAlign the replacement sub-board over the lower housing cavity and press it gently into place.

Reconnect the antenna and flex cables
3 minAlign and snap the coaxial cable connector onto the board using tweezers, then press the main flex connector back into its socket.
