   Power Off the Phone

   Power down your Motorola G 5G Plus immediately and do not attempt to plug in a charger. Press and hold the power button, then select Power Off on the screen.

   Eject the SIM Tray

   Insert a SIM eject tool into the hole on the left frame of the phone. Push firmly inward to pop out the SIM and microSD tray, then remove it.

   Heat the Back Cover

   Apply a heated pad or heat gun around the outer edges of the rear cover for two minutes. This softens the factory adhesive holding the back panel to the frame.

   Slice the Rear Adhesive

   Attach a suction cup to the lower rear cover and pull upward to create a small gap. Insert a plastic opening pick and carefully slice through the adhesive along the edges.

   Disconnect Fingerprint Sensor Cable

   Gently lift the right side of the back cover like a book, taking care not to strain the flex cable. Use a spudger to pop off the fingerprint reader ribbon cable from the motherboard.

   Unscrew Upper Motherboard Shield

   Remove the Phillips #00 screws securing the plastic motherboard frame. Keep track of each screw location for reassembly.

   Remove Upper Motherboard Shield

   Pry up the edges of the upper plastic frame with a spudger. Lift the shield away from the phone body to reveal the main logic board.

   Disconnect the Battery Cable

   Use the flat end of a spudger to pry the battery connector straight up off the motherboard. Disconnecting power prevents short circuits during cleaning.

   Unscrew Lower Speaker Module

   Remove the Phillips #00 screws holding down the lower loudspeaker housing at the bottom of the device.

    Remove Loudspeaker Module

    Insert a spudger under the edge of the loudspeaker assembly and lift it out of the frame.

    Disconnect Sub-Board Flex Cables

    Disconnect the main interconnect flex cable and the display cable from both the motherboard and lower sub-board using a spudger.

    Remove Main Motherboard

    Gently lift the main motherboard up and out of the housing, ensuring no remaining ribbon cables snag on the board edges.

    Clean Motherboard Corrosion

    Submerge the motherboard in 99% isopropyl alcohol and gently scrub all components and connectors with a soft ESD brush. Ensure all white or green mineral corrosion is removed.

    Clean Sub-Board and Charging Port

    Scrub the lower daughterboard and USB-C port using isopropyl alcohol and an ESD brush. Pay special attention to cleaning liquid residue out of the USB-C cavity.

    Dry Internal Components

    Set the cleaned circuit boards on a lint-free towel in a well-ventilated space. Allow all alcohol and residual moisture to evaporate completely before reinstalling.

    Reinstall Boards into Chassis

    Place the dry sub-board and main motherboard back into their respective slots in the phone chassis.

    Reconnect Flex Cables

    Press the interconnect cables and display flex cables firmly onto their sockets until they snap into place.

    Reconnect Battery and Reattach Shields

    Plug the battery connector back into the motherboard. Place the upper shield and lower speaker module back over the boards and secure them with their screws.

    Attach Fingerprint Sensor and Seal Back

    Snap the fingerprint sensor flex cable back onto the motherboard, apply new double-sided adhesive along the frame, and press the rear cover down tightly.
