   Power Off the Phone

   Press and hold the power button, then select Power Off on the screen. Ensure the device is completely powered down before beginning.

   Eject the SIM Tray

   Insert a SIM eject tool into the pinhole at the bottom of the device. Push firmly to pop the SIM card tray out and remove it.

   Heat the Rear Glass Cover

   Apply a heated iOpener or heat gun to the edges of the back cover for two minutes. This softens the strong adhesive holding the glass.

   Attach Suction Handle

   Place a suction cup onto the lower portion of the rear glass cover. Press down firmly to create a secure seal.

   Create an Entry Gap

   Pull up on the suction handle while pressing an opening pick into the gap between the glass and the frame. Take care not to insert the pick too deeply.

   Slice Perimeter Adhesive

   Slide the opening pick along the edges of the back panel to cut through the perimeter adhesive. Reapply heat if the pick meets heavy resistance.

   Remove the Back Cover

   Gently lift the rear glass panel away from the frame once all adhesive is sliced. Set the back cover aside in a safe spot.

   Unscrew Motherboard Cover

   Use a Phillips #00 driver to remove the screws securing the plastic motherboard frame and wireless charging coil. Keep screws organized for reassembly.

   Remove Motherboard Bracket

   Insert the flat end of a spudger under the motherboard frame edge and pry gently up to detach it from the phone body.

    Disconnect the Battery Cable

    Use a plastic spudger to pry the battery flex cable connector straight up from its motherboard socket. This prevents electrical shorts during repair.

    Disconnect Main Interconnect Flex

    Pry up the press connector for the main ribbon cable running over the battery. Fold the cable back out of the way.

    Disconnect Display Flex Cable

    Use the spudger to pop the display flex cable press connector off the motherboard. Carefully move it clear of the battery cavity.

    Apply Isopropyl Alcohol to Battery

    Apply a few drops of high-concentration isopropyl alcohol along the top and side edges of the battery. Wait two minutes for the solvent to weaken the glue.

    Unseat Battery Pull-Tabs

    Locate the adhesive pull-tabs at the edges of the battery. Peel the clear tabs back to give yourself a grip handle.

    Pry Out the Old Battery

    Pull the adhesive tabs steadily upwards, or use a flat plastic card underneath the battery to lift it free from the frame. Do not use metal tools to pry.

    Insert New Battery

    Remove protective film from new adhesive strips, lay them in the recess, and firmly press the new battery into place.
