Step-by-step

Remove the SIM tray
1 minInsert a SIM eject tool into the small hole on the left side of the phone. Press firmly until the tray pops out, then remove it completely.

Unsnap the back cover
3 minInsert a plastic prying tool into the seam between the back cover and screen frame near the SIM slot. Slide the tool around the perimeter to release all plastic clips.

Disconnect the fingerprint sensor
2 minLift the rear cover slightly, being careful not to strain the attached ribbon cable. Use a spudger to pry up and disconnect the fingerprint sensor press connector from the motherboard.

Remove the rear cover
1 minLift the back cover away from the device and set it aside in a safe location.

Unscrew the loudspeaker assembly
3 minUse a Phillips #000 screwdriver to remove the screws securing the bottom loudspeaker module to the phone frame.

Pry up the loudspeaker assembly
2 minInsert the flat end of a spudger beneath the corner of the loudspeaker housing. Gently pry up to lift the speaker out of its frame recess.

Clean the contact pads
2 minDip a cotton swab in high-percentage isopropyl alcohol and clean the spring contacts on the sub-board. Allow the area to dry completely.

Position the new loudspeaker
2 minAlign the new replacement loudspeaker module with the lower frame cutout. Press down lightly to seat it evenly into position.

Secure the loudspeaker screws
3 minReinstall the Phillips screws into the loudspeaker module and tighten them until snug.

Reconnect the fingerprint sensor
2 minHold the back cover near the phone body and align the fingerprint sensor connector over its motherboard socket. Press firmly until it snaps into place.

Snap the back cover into place
2 minAlign the back cover with the phone body and press firmly around all edges until every clip snaps securely shut.

Reinsert the SIM tray
1 minSlide the SIM card tray back into its slot on the side of the phone until it sits flush.
