   Power down the device

   Press and hold the power button, then select 'Power off' on the screen. Ensure the phone is completely off before proceeding.

   Remove the SIM tray

   Insert a SIM eject tool or paperclip into the hole next to the SIM tray. Press firmly until the tray pops out, then slide it out.

   Heat the rear cover edges

   Use a heat gun or hair dryer on low setting to warm the outer edges of the rear plastic cover for 1-2 minutes. This softens internal clips and adhesive.

   Insert an opening pick

   Attach a suction cup to the lower back cover and pull upward to create a slight gap. Insert a plastic opening pick into the seam above the SIM slot.

   Unclip the rear cover

   Slide the plastic pick along the perimeter of the phone to release the plastic clips holding the back cover to the frame. Do not remove the cover completely yet.

   Disconnect the fingerprint sensor

   Gently hinge the rear cover to the side to expose the fingerprint sensor flex cable. Use a spudger to pry the flex connector straight up from the board.

   Remove motherboard cover screws

   Use a Phillips #00 screwdriver to remove the screws securing the upper plastic motherboard shield.

   Detach the motherboard cover

   Insert a spudger under the plastic motherboard cover and pry it up to remove it from the device frame.

   Disconnect the battery flex cable

   Use a plastic spudger to pry the battery press connector straight up off the motherboard socket to cut power.

    Disconnect the main interconnect cable

    Pry up the lower interconnect flex cable connector that runs over the top of the battery.

    Unpeel the battery pull tabs

    Locate the adhesive pull tabs at the bottom edge of the battery. Use tweezers to carefully peel back the black tips of the tabs.

    Extract the adhesive strips

    Pull the adhesive strips out slowly at a low angle parallel to the phone chassis. Keep pulling steadily until the strips come free.

    Remove the battery from the chassis

    If adhesive remains, apply a few drops of high-concentration isopropyl alcohol along the battery sides. Gently pry the battery free using a flat plastic opening tool.

    Apply new adhesive to the replacement battery

    Peel the protective backing from new battery adhesive strips and lay them firmly onto the back of the new battery.

    Place the new battery in the frame

    Align the replacement battery into the battery well and press down firmly to set the adhesive.

    Reconnect the flex cables

    Align and snap the main interconnect cable and the battery press connector back onto their motherboard sockets.

    Reattach the motherboard cover

    Place the top plastic motherboard shield into position. Secure it with the original Phillips screws.

    Connect the fingerprint sensor

    Hold the rear cover near the chassis and reattach the fingerprint sensor press connector to the motherboard.

    Press the rear cover into place

    Align the back cover over the frame and press firmly around all edges until every plastic clip snaps shut.

    Reinsert the SIM tray

    Slide the SIM card tray back into its slot on the side of the phone until flush with the outer case.
