   Power off the phone

   Press and hold the power button, then select Power Off on the screen. Ensure the device is fully shut down before proceeding.

   Remove the SIM card tray

   Insert a SIM eject tool into the small hole beside the SIM tray on the left edge. Push firmly to eject the tray and pull it out.

   Insert an opening pick

   Slide a thin plastic opening pick into the seam between the back cover and the screen assembly near the SIM slot.

   Unclip the back cover

   Slide the pick around the edges of the phone to disengage the internal plastic clips securing the rear cover.

   Lift the rear cover gently

   Open the back cover carefully from the right edge, taking care not to strain the fingerprint sensor flex cable still connected inside.

   Remove motherboard bracket screws

   Use a Phillips #00 screwdriver to remove the screws holding down the plastic motherboard cover bracket.

   Remove the motherboard bracket

   Lift the motherboard plastic bracket off the chassis using tweezers and set it aside.

   Disconnect the fingerprint reader

   Use a plastic spudger to pry up the fingerprint sensor flex cable connector from the motherboard.

   Set aside the rear cover

   Completely remove the rear cover assembly now that the fingerprint cable is disconnected.

    Disconnect the battery cable

    Pry up the battery flex cable connector directly from its socket on the motherboard using a plastic spudger.

    Warm the battery adhesive

    Apply mild heat with a heat gun or hair dryer to the center of the display screen to soften the battery glue underneath.

    Pull the adhesive tabs

    Locate the stretch-release adhesive tabs at the bottom edge of the battery and slowly pull them out at a low angle.

    Pry out the battery

    Insert a flat plastic prying tool under the battery and carefully lift it out of the recess. Never use metal tools or bend the battery.

    Clean the battery compartment

    Apply a few drops of high-concentration isopropyl alcohol to a lint-free cloth and clean out any remaining adhesive residue.

    Apply new adhesive strips

    Peel the backing off new battery adhesive strips and secure them onto the back of the replacement battery.

    Install the replacement battery

    Align the new battery in the compartment and press down firmly to set the adhesive.

    Connect the battery flex cable

    Press the battery flex connector straight down into its motherboard socket until it clicks into place.

    Connect the fingerprint sensor flex cable

    Position the rear cover near the chassis and snap the fingerprint reader connector back onto the motherboard.

    Reattach the motherboard cover

    Place the plastic motherboard bracket over the board and secure it with the original Phillips #00 screws.

    Snap the rear cover closed

    Align the rear cover with the phone frame and press firmly along all edges until every clip clicks shut.

    Reinsert the SIM card tray

    Push the SIM card tray back into its slot on the side of the device until flush.
