Remove the SIM tray
1 minInsert a SIM eject tool into the hole on the left edge of the phone to pop out the tray. Remove the SIM and micro SD card tray completely.

Open the rear case

3 minUse a Phillips #00 screwdriver to remove the screws holding down the plastic motherboard cover.

Remove the motherboard shield
2 minPry up and remove the plastic motherboard shield using a plastic opening tool.

1 minUse the flat edge of a spudger to pop the battery flex connector off its motherboard socket.

Disconnect the fingerprint sensor
1 minDisconnect the fingerprint sensor cable from the motherboard using the spudger tool.

Separate the rear cover
1 minLift the rear cover away from the rest of the device and place it on a clean work surface.

Locate adhesive pull tabs
1 minFind the clear plastic pull tabs located along the bottom edge of the battery.

Peel adhesive tabs
2 minUse tweezers to peel back the black adhesive tape tabs from the top edge of the battery.

Pull the adhesive strips
4 minSlowly pull each adhesive tab at a low angle outward from under the battery until the strips stretch out completely.

Apply isopropyl alcohol
2 minIf a strip breaks, drop a few drops of high-purity isopropyl alcohol along the edge of the battery to loosen the remaining glue.

Pry out the battery
3 minInsert a thin plastic card beneath the battery and carefully lift it out of the recess.
