   Power off the phone

   Press and hold the power button, then select Power Off on the screen to shut down the device completely.

   Eject the SIM tray

   Insert a SIM eject tool into the small hole on the left edge of the phone to release the tray.

   Heat the rear cover edges

   Apply mild heat around the perimeter of the back cover using a heat gun to soften the clips and light adhesive.

   Insert an opening pick

   Wedge a plastic opening pick into the seam between the back cover and the screen assembly.

   Unclip the back cover

   Slide the pick along all edges to unlatch the plastic retaining clips surrounding the frame.

   Lift the back cover carefully

   Gently tilt open the rear cover, making sure not to strain the fingerprint sensor cable attached inside.

   Disconnect the fingerprint sensor flex

   Use the pointed end of a spudger to pry the fingerprint reader flex connector straight up from the motherboard.

   Remove the motherboard shield screws

   Unscrew the Phillips #00 screws securing the upper plastic motherboard bracket.

   Lift the plastic motherboard shield out of the phone to reveal the internal battery connector.

    Disconnect the battery cable

    Use a plastic spudger to pop the battery press connector straight up off its motherboard socket.

    Apply isopropyl alcohol around the battery

    Drip a few drops of 99% isopropyl alcohol around the edges of the battery to loosen the glue underneath.

    Heat the display side

    Warm the front screen area opposite the battery for 60 seconds using a heat gun on low heat.

    Pry up the battery

    Insert a flat plastic spudger under the battery edge and gently pry upward to break the adhesive bond.

    Remove the old battery

    Lift the degraded battery out of the frame housing and set it aside safely.

    Clean old adhesive residue

    Use alcohol and a cloth to scrape away remaining adhesive tape from the battery compartment base.

    Lay down fresh battery adhesive strips across the bottom of the battery well in the chassis.

    Set the replacement battery into the frame and press firmly to bond it to the new adhesive.
