Step-by-step

Power off the device
1 minPress and hold the power button, then tap Power Off on the screen to completely shut down the device.

Eject the SIM card tray
1 minInsert a SIM eject tool into the hole next to the SIM tray on the side of the phone and press firmly to pop it out.

Unsnap the back cover
3 minInsert a plastic opening pick into the seam between the screen frame and back cover, then slide around the edge to release the plastic clips.

Remove the back cover
1 minLift the rear cover completely away from the phone body once all perimeter clips have been disengaged.

Unscrew the lower speaker housing
2 minUse a Phillips #00 screwdriver to remove the six screws securing the bottom speaker module over the sub-board.

Pry up the speaker housing
2 minInsert a spudger under the edge of the speaker module and gently lift it out of the lower chassis.

Disconnect the battery flex cable
1 minPry the battery connector straight up from the motherboard using the flat end of a plastic spudger.

Disconnect the main interconnect cable
2 minUse a spudger to gently pop the sub-board flex cable connector off its socket on the lower daughterboard.

Disconnect the antenna coaxial cable
2 minUse tweezers to carefully lift the head of the coaxial antenna cable straight up off its terminal on the daughterboard.

Remove the microphone daughterboard
2 minSlide a flat spudger beneath the daughterboard containing the microphone and gently lift it out of the phone frame.

Install the new daughterboard
2 minPlace the replacement microphone daughterboard into the lower recess of the phone and press down lightly to seat it.

Reconnect the antenna coaxial cable
2 minAlign the antenna cable head over its terminal on the new board and gently press down with tweezers until it snaps into place.

Reconnect the main interconnect cable
1 minAlign the flex connector over the sub-board socket and press firmly until you feel a soft click.

Reconnect the battery flex cable
1 minPress the battery connector directly onto its motherboard socket to restore power connectivity.

Reinstall the lower speaker housing
2 minPosition the speaker assembly back over the bottom sub-board and press down until it sits flush.

Secure the speaker housing screws
2 minReinstall and tighten the six Phillips #00 screws to hold the lower speaker housing in place.

Snap the back cover into place
2 minAlign the back cover with the phone body and press firmly along all edges until every clip snaps securely.

Reinsert the SIM card tray
1 minSlide the SIM tray back into its slot on the side of the phone until it sits flush with the outer frame.
