Step-by-step

Power off device
1 minPress and hold the power button, then tap Power Off to shut down the phone completely.

Eject SIM tray
1 minInsert a SIM eject tool into the hole beside the SIM tray and push gently to pop it out.

Unclip back cover edge
2 minInsert a plastic opening pick into the seam between the back cover and display assembly at the bottom edge.

Release plastic clips
3 minSlide the opening pick around the entire perimeter of the phone to unclip the rear cover.

Disconnect fingerprint sensor
2 minSlightly lift the back cover and use tweezers to detach the fingerprint sensor flex cable connector.

Remove back cover
1 minLift the rear cover completely off the phone frame and set it aside.

Unscrew speaker module
3 minUse a Phillips #000 screwdriver to remove the screws securing the lower speaker enclosure.

Remove loudspeaker assembly
2 minInsert a spudger under the speaker module and pry it up to expose the charging daughterboard.

Disconnect main flex cable
2 minPry up the interconnect flex cable connector attached to the charging port daughterboard.

Disconnect antenna cable
2 minUse fine tweezers to gently pry up and disconnect the coaxial antenna cable from the daughterboard.

Remove daughterboard
2 minPry gently under the daughterboard using a plastic spudger to detach it from the chassis.

Position new daughterboard
2 minAlign the replacement charging port daughterboard in the recess at the bottom of the frame.

Attach antenna cable
2 minCarefully align and snap the coaxial antenna cable back onto its terminal on the new board.

Attach main flex cable
2 minPress the interconnect flex cable connector firmly onto the new daughterboard until it clicks.

Reinstall loudspeaker assembly
2 minPlace the loudspeaker cover back into position over the daughterboard assembly.

Secure loudspeaker screws
3 minReinsert and tighten all Phillips #000 screws holding the lower speaker module in place.

Reconnect fingerprint sensor
2 minHold the back cover near the phone and reconnect the fingerprint ribbon cable to the motherboard.

Snap back cover on
2 minAlign the back cover with the frame and press firmly along the edges until all clips snap tightly.

Reinsert SIM tray
1 minPush the SIM card tray back into its slot until it sits flush with the side of the phone.
