Power off the phone
1 minPress and hold the power button, then tap Power Off on the screen to shut down the device completely.

Remove the back cover
2 minInsert a plastic opening tool into the notch at the bottom corner of the phone and pry the rear panel upward.

Lift out the battery
1 minUse your fingernail or a plastic spudger in the recess at the bottom of the battery compartment to lift the battery out.

Unthread the midframe screws
3 minUse a Phillips #00 screwdriver to remove all screws securing the plastic midframe housing to the phone body.

Unsnap the midframe clips
2 minSlide a thin opening pick along the seam between the midframe and display frame to disengage the retaining clips.

Remove the midframe
1 minLift the plastic midframe straight off the device body and set it aside.

Pry out the loudspeaker module
2 minInsert precision tweezers under the loudspeaker module at the bottom of the midframe and gently pry it loose from its recess.

Remove the damaged speaker
1 minLift the old loudspeaker assembly out of the housing and dispose of any lingering adhesive residue.

Clean the contact points
2 minLightly dab a microfiber cloth with isopropyl alcohol and wipe down the motherboard contact pads where the speaker connects.

Install the replacement speaker
2 minPlace the new loudspeaker into the bottom cavity of the midframe, pressing down firmly to seat it against the adhesive.

Align the midframe
1 minPosition the midframe cover over the phone, making sure all screw holes and perimeter edges align with the chassis.

Snap the midframe in place
2 minApply light pressure around the edges of the frame until you hear the plastic clips click securely shut.

Secure the midframe screws
3 minReinsert and tighten all Phillips #00 screws to hold the midframe tightly against the motherboard.

Reinstall the battery
1 minAlign the metallic contacts on the battery with the prongs in the battery bay and press it flat into place.

1 minAlign the plastic back cover with the phone body and press down around the perimeter to snap it back into place.
