Step-by-step
- 1
Power down the device
1 minPress and hold the power button on the right edge, then select Power Off on the screen.

Remove the back cover
2 minInsert a plastic opening pick or thumbnail into the notch at the bottom edge and pry the plastic rear cover off the phone.

Remove the battery
1 minLift the battery from the notch near the bottom of the battery compartment and remove it from the device.

Remove the SIM and microSD cards
1 minSlide out any installed SIM card and microSD card from their respective slots above the battery bay.

Unscrew the lower speaker housing
3 minUse a Phillips #00 screwdriver to remove the five screws securing the lower plastic speaker enclosure.

Pry up the lower speaker housing
2 minInsert the flat end of a spudger under the plastic speaker housing and pry it up to remove it.

Disconnect the interconnect flex cable
2 minUse a spudger to gently pop the ribbon cable connector straight up from the bottom daughterboard.

Disconnect the antenna cable
2 minUse precision tweezers to carefully lift the coaxial antenna cable head straight up off its board socket.

Remove the microphone daughterboard
3 minGently pry underneath the bottom daughterboard containing the primary microphone and lift it out of the frame.

Seat the new microphone daughterboard
2 minAlign the replacement daughterboard with the bottom chassis recess and press gently until it rests flat.

Reconnect the antenna cable
2 minPosition the antenna cable connector over its board target and press gently with tweezers until it snaps into place.

Reconnect the interconnect flex cable
2 minAlign the ribbon cable connector over its socket on the daughterboard and press down until it clicks securely.

Reattach the lower speaker housing
2 minPlace the speaker enclosure over the daughterboard assembly and press around the edges to snap it in place.

Secure the lower housing screws
3 minReinstall the five Phillips #00 screws to firmly attach the speaker housing to the phone frame.

Reinstall the battery and back cover
2 minInsert the battery into the bay, align the rear cover clips, and press firmly around the perimeter to seal it.
