Step-by-step
- 1
Turn off the phone
1 minPress and hold the Power button, then tap Power Off on the screen. Ensure the device is fully shut down before proceeding.

Remove the rear cover
2 minInsert a plastic pry tool into the small notch at the bottom edge of the back cover. Gently pry around the perimeter to release the plastic clips and remove the cover.

Remove the battery
1 minUse your fingernail or a plastic spudger at the bottom slot of the battery to lift it out of its recess.

Remove the microSD and SIM cards
1 minSlide out any installed microSD card or SIM card from their respective slots to prevent damage during frame removal.

Unscrew the motherboard shield
4 minUse a Phillips #00 screwdriver to remove the nine screws holding down the top plastic motherboard cover.

Pry off the motherboard cover
2 minInsert a plastic spudger under the edge of the top cover assembly and carefully pop it off the housing.

Disconnect the power button flex cable
2 minUse the flat end of a spudger to gently pry up the power/volume button flex cable connector from the motherboard socket.

Heat the power button adhesive
2 minApply light heat using a heat gun or hair dryer to the outer right edge of the frame for 20 seconds to soften the button flex adhesive.

Peel off the power button flex cable
3 minSlide precision tweezers under the power button flex ribbon and slowly peel it away from the inner side frame.

Remove the physical power key
2 minPush the plastic power button key inward from the outside of the frame using tweezers to release it from its slot if replacement is required.

Install the new power button flex
3 minRemove any protective backing tape from the new flex cable, align the contacts with the side frame recess, and press it firmly into place.

Reconnect the button flex connector
2 minAlign the flex cable press connector over its socket on the motherboard and press down firmly until it clicks into place.

Reinstall the motherboard cover
2 minPosition the top plastic cover back over the motherboard and snap the perimeter tabs down onto the frame.

Secure the motherboard cover screws
4 minReinsert and tighten the nine Phillips #00 screws until snug to secure the plastic motherboard shield.

Reinstall the battery and back cover
2 minPlace the battery back into its compartment, align the back cover over the phone, and press around the edges until all clips snap shut.
