Step-by-step

Power Off the Device
1 minPress and hold the power button on the right edge of the Moto E6 Plus. Select Power Off on the screen to turn off the device completely.

Pry Off the Back Cover
2 minInsert a plastic prying tool into the notch at the bottom corner of the back cover. Gently pry upwards around the perimeter to release the plastic clips.

Remove the Removable Battery
1 minLift the battery out of its recess from the bottom notch using your finger or a plastic tool. Set the battery aside on a clean surface.

Unscrew Lower Loudspeaker Housing
3 minUse a Phillips #00 screwdriver to remove the screws securing the lower loudspeaker housing. Store the screws in your workspace tray.

Remove Loudspeaker Module
2 minInsert a plastic prying tool beneath the edge of the loudspeaker module. Pry gently to unclip the module from the phone frame and lift it out.

Disconnect Interconnect Flex Cable
2 minUse a spudger to gently pop up the press-fit connector of the main interconnect flex cable from the charging port sub-board.

Disconnect Antenna Coaxial Cable
2 minPlace tweezers under the metallic head of the antenna coaxial cable. Carefully pry directly upward to disconnect it from the daughterboard.

Remove Charging Daughterboard
2 minSlide a plastic prying tool under the edge of the charging daughterboard. Carefully lift the board out of its recess in the lower chassis.

Apply Flux to Port Pins
2 minPlace the daughterboard on a heat-safe mat. Apply liquid or paste solder flux to the micro-USB port's anchor legs and rear pin connections.

Desolder Port Anchor Pins
4 minPlace desoldering braid over the four outer anchor pins and heat with a soldering iron tip. Draw out existing solder from each anchor hole.

Remove Damaged USB Port
4 minGently heat the rear signal pins while applying light upward pressure with tweezers to lift the damaged micro-USB port off the board.

Clean Board Solder Pads
3 minApply fresh flux and use desoldering braid to clear remaining solder from all pads. Clean the surface with isopropyl alcohol.

Position New Micro-USB Port
2 minAlign the anchor legs of the new micro-USB port with the mounting holes on the sub-board. Press the port down flush against the PCB.

Solder Port Anchor Legs
4 minTouch the soldering iron tip and fresh solder to each of the four anchor legs until solder fills the through-holes completely.

Solder Rear Contact Pins
5 minApply flux to the rear pins and lightly drag the iron tip with a fine amount of solder across each pin to secure the data and power connections.

Inspect Solder Connections
3 minInspect all solder joints under a magnifying glass to ensure there are no bridges between adjacent pins.

Reinsert Charging Daughterboard
2 minFit the repaired charging daughterboard back into its slot at the bottom of the phone chassis until it sits flush.

Attach Antenna Coaxial Cable
2 minAlign the coaxial antenna connector over its socket on the daughterboard. Press straight down with a spudger until it snaps into place.

Connect Interconnect Flex Cable
2 minPosition the main interconnect flex cable connector over its mating socket on the sub-board and press down firmly until it clicks.

Position Loudspeaker Module
2 minPlace the lower loudspeaker housing over the charging daughterboard area. Press down around the edges until the plastic tabs click in.

Secure Loudspeaker Screws
3 minReinstall and tighten the Phillips #00 screws into the loudspeaker assembly using your screwdriver.

Reinstall Phone Battery
1 minAlign the metallic contacts of the battery with the pins inside the battery compartment and press it flat into place.

Snap On Back Cover
2 minAlign the back cover with the edges of the phone frame. Press firmly along all sides until all perimeter clips snap securely.

Test Charging Port
2 minConnect a Micro-USB charging cable attached to a power supply. Verify that the device indicates it is actively charging.
