   Eject the SIM card tray

   Insert a SIM eject tool or thin paperclip into the small hole on the SIM tray. Push firmly to pop the tray out, then pull it completely out of the phone.

   Unsnap the back cover

   Insert a plastic opening tool into the seam between the rear cover and the front frame near the SIM slot. Pry around the entire perimeter to release the plastic clips holding the back cover on.

   Remove fingerprint bracket screws

   Use a Phillips #00 screwdriver to remove the two screws securing the metal bracket over the fingerprint sensor cable connector. Set the metal bracket aside.

   Disconnect fingerprint sensor

   Pry the fingerprint sensor press-connector straight up from the motherboard using the flat end of a spudger. Lift the rear cover away from the device.

   Remove midframe screws

   Remove all Phillips #00 screws securing the upper motherboard shield and midframe to the phone chassis. Keep track of the screws for reassembly.

   Pry up the upper midframe cover

   Insert a spudger beneath the edge of the upper midframe cover. Lift upward to release the clips and remove the plastic cover.

   Disconnect the battery cable

   Pry the battery cable connector straight up off its motherboard socket using a plastic spudger. This cuts power to the board to prevent accidental short circuits.

   Disconnect the display cable

   Locate the display press-connector on the lower edge of the motherboard. Use a spudger to gently pop the connector straight up from its socket.

   Disconnect the daughterboard cable

   Unplug the interconnect flex cable connector linking the daughterboard to the main motherboard. Gently fold the cable back out of the way.

    Remove the battery

    Grasp the pull tabs attached to the battery adhesive strips and pull them out slowly at a low angle. Lift the battery out once the adhesive releases.

    Heat the front display glass

    Apply heat to the front glass edges using a heat gun set to low for about two minutes. Heat softens the adhesive holding the display assembly to the frame.

    Attach suction cup

    Press a suction cup onto the lower portion of the front screen. Pull upward gently on the ring to create a small gap between the glass and the bezel.

    Insert opening pick

    Insert an opening pick into the gap opened by the suction cup at the bottom edge. Slide the pick along the bottom perimeter to slice through adhesive.

    Slice remaining display adhesive

    Slide the pick carefully along the side and top edges of the screen assembly. Reapply heat if the pick meets heavy resistance.

    Separate display assembly from frame

    Lift the front panel away from the frame while carefully routing the flex cable through the frame slot. Discard the damaged screen assembly.

    Clean frame perimeter

    Apply isopropyl alcohol to a lint-free cloth and scrape off all remaining adhesive residue from the frame shelf. A clean surface ensures a proper bond for the new screen.

    Apply new adhesive strips

    Place pre-cut adhesive strips along the perimeter frame shelf where the new screen will sit. Peel away the protective backing films.

    Thread new display cable

    Pass the flex cable of the new display assembly through the frame opening from the front. Align the screen carefully with the phone frame.

    Seat the replacement screen

    Press the display panel down firmly into the frame recess. Apply firm, even pressure along all outer edges to set the adhesive.

    Reconnect display cable

    Align the display flex connector with its motherboard socket and press down firmly until it snaps into place.

    Reinstall the battery

    Place the battery back into its recess in the chassis. Connect the battery cable connector to its socket on the motherboard.

    Reinstall midframe cover and screws

    Snap the upper midframe plastic cover back into place. Secure it by reinserting and tightening all Phillips #00 screws.

    Connect fingerprint sensor and bracket

    Press the fingerprint sensor cable onto its socket, then position the metal securing bracket over it. Reinstall the two retaining screws.

    Reattach rear cover and SIM tray

    Align the back cover over the phone body and press firmly along the perimeter until all clips snap into place. Slide the SIM tray back into its slot.
