Step-by-step

Power Off the Device
2 minPress and hold the power button until the power menu appears on screen. Tap 'Power Off' and wait until the phone shuts down completely.

Remove the SIM Card Tray
1 minInsert a SIM eject tool into the pinhole next to the SIM tray on the side of the phone. Push firmly to pop the tray out, then remove it.

Unclip the Back Cover
3 minInsert a thin plastic opening pick into the seam between the display assembly and back cover near the SIM slot. Slide the pick around all edges to release the retaining clips.

Disconnect the Fingerprint Sensor
2 minSlightly tilt the back cover open to access the fingerprint reader cable. Use a plastic spudger to lift the connector straight up off the motherboard.

Unscrew the Loudspeaker Assembly
3 minUse a Phillips #000 screwdriver to remove all screws securing the lower loudspeaker housing.

Remove the Loudspeaker Module
2 minInsert a flat spudger under the loudspeaker assembly and carefully lift it out of the chassis.

Unscrew the Top Motherboard Shield
3 minRemove the Phillips screws holding the upper plastic motherboard shield in place.

2 minLift the upper protective plastic bracket off the motherboard and set it aside.

Disconnect the Battery
1 minUse a plastic spudger to disconnect the battery press connector from its socket on the motherboard.

Disconnect the Interconnect Cable
2 minPry up the lower end of the main ribbon cable attached to the charging sub-board using a spudger.

Disconnect the Antenna Cable
2 minGently lift the coaxial antenna cable connector off its socket on the sub-board using tweezers.

Pry Out the Charging Sub-Board
3 minLever the plastic spudger under the edge of the charging sub-board and lift it out of the frame.

Apply Flux to Port Pins
2 minApply a small amount of liquid soldering flux across the micro-USB port solder pads and pin connections.

Desolder the Old Port
5 minHeat the anchor pads and data pins with a soldering iron and desoldering braid to absorb solder, then lift off the old port.

Solder the New Port
5 minAlign the replacement micro-USB port onto the solder pads and solder each anchor pin and signal lead firmly.

Clean the Sub-Board
2 minWipe away excess flux residue from around the newly soldered port using isopropyl alcohol and a lint-free swab.

Reinstall the Charging Sub-Board
2 minPlace the repaired sub-board back into its recess at the bottom of the phone chassis and press into place.

Reconnect the Antenna Cable
2 minAlign the coaxial antenna head over the sub-board socket and press straight down until it snaps into position.

Reconnect the Interconnect Cable
2 minPress the lower interconnect ribbon cable connector firmly onto the charging sub-board socket.

1 minPress the battery cable connector straight down onto its motherboard socket until secured.

Reinstall the Top Shield
2 minSet the upper protective motherboard cover back onto the top section of the phone.

Secure the Top Shield
3 minInsert and tighten all Phillips screws removed earlier from the upper motherboard shield.

Reinstall the Loudspeaker Module
2 minAlign the lower loudspeaker housing over the charging sub-board assembly and press down gently.

Secure the Loudspeaker Module
3 minTighten the Phillips screws to secure the loudspeaker housing to the lower frame.

Reconnect the Fingerprint Sensor
2 minHold the back cover near the body and snap the fingerprint sensor flex connector onto the motherboard.

Snap On the Back Cover
3 minAlign the back cover over the chassis and press firmly along all edges until the plastic clips snap shut.

Reinsert the SIM Card Tray
1 minSlide the SIM card tray back into the slot on the side of the device until it sits flush.
