   Turn off the phone

   Press and hold the power button, then select Power Off on the screen. Ensure the device is completely powered down before proceeding.

   Eject the SIM card tray

   Insert a SIM eject tool into the hole beside the SIM tray on the left edge of the phone. Push inward firmly to eject the tray and remove it.

   Heat the rear cover edges

   Use a heat gun or hair dryer on low heat to warm the outer edges of the back cover for two minutes. This softens the adhesive securing the rear panel.

   Attach a suction cup

   Press a suction cup firmly onto the lower portion of the rear cover. Pull upward gently on the suction cup ring to create a small gap near the bottom seam.

   Insert a plastic opening pick

   Insert the tip of a plastic opening pick into the gap created by the suction cup. Do not insert metal tools to avoid scratching the housing.

   Slice perimeter adhesive

   Slide the plastic pick along the lower, side, and top edges of the phone. Work slowly around the perimeter to separate the adhesive.

   Hinge the rear cover open

   Carefully lift the left edge of the back cover like a book. Do not pull it away completely yet, as the fingerprint sensor cable is still connected.

   Remove motherboard shield screws

   Use a Phillips #000 screwdriver to remove the screws securing the upper motherboard shield.

   Remove the motherboard shield

   Use tweezers to carefully lift the plastic motherboard shield out of the phone body and set it aside.

    Disconnect the fingerprint sensor cable

    Use the edge of a plastic spudger to gently pop the fingerprint sensor flex cable connector straight up from its motherboard socket.

    Detach the rear panel

    Lift the rear cover completely off the phone frame and set it on your workspace mat.

    Disconnect the battery cable

    Pry the battery connector flex cable directly up from the motherboard using a plastic spudger to cut power.

    Apply isopropyl alcohol

    Apply a few drops of high-concentration isopropyl alcohol along the exposed edges of the battery. Allow one minute for it to penetrate the glue underneath.

    Lever out the battery

    Slide a flat plastic prying tool under the edge of the battery and lift slowly. Work your way across the battery body until the adhesive releases.

    Clean residual adhesive

    Use isopropyl alcohol and a lint-free cloth to wipe away any leftover glue inside the battery cavity.

    Apply new battery adhesive

    Peel the protective backing off new battery adhesive strips and lay them flat inside the battery recess.

    Install the replacement battery

    Position the new battery in the recess and press down firmly across its surface to seat it on the adhesive.

    Connect the battery cable

    Align the battery flex cable over its motherboard socket and press straight down until it snaps into place.

    Reconnect fingerprint sensor flex

    Position the rear cover close to the frame and press the fingerprint sensor cable connector onto the motherboard until secured.

    Reinstall the motherboard shield

    Lower the plastic motherboard cover into position over the top component assembly.

    Secure motherboard shield screws

    Thread and tighten the Phillips screws into the motherboard shield until snug.

    Reseal and press back cover

    Align the rear cover over the phone body and press firmly along all outer edges to re-engage the perimeter seal.
