Step-by-step

Power off the device
1 minPress and hold the power button on the right side of the Moto E5 Play Go. Select Power Off on the screen and wait for the device to shut down completely.

Remove the back cover
2 minInsert a plastic opening tool or fingernail into the notch on the bottom edge of the phone. Pry upward to unclip and remove the plastic rear cover.

Lift out the battery
1 minLocate the recess at the bottom edge of the battery compartment. Lift the lithium-ion battery up and remove it from the phone.

Remove SIM and microSD cards
1 minSlide the SIM card and optional microSD card out of their respective slots above the battery bay using your thumb or a spudger.

Unscrew the lower loudspeaker housing
3 minUse a Phillips #00 precision screwdriver to remove the screws securing the bottom loudspeaker assembly to the main frame.

Unscrew the upper midframe screws
4 minRemove the remaining Phillips #00 screws holding the upper midframe cover over the motherboard and earpiece area.

Pry up the loudspeaker module
2 minInsert a flat plastic spudger beneath the edge of the lower loudspeaker module. Gently pry it up to free it from the plastic clips.

Extract the top earpiece speaker
2 minUse precision tweezers to carefully lift the small earpiece speaker module out of its recess at the top of the frame.

Place the new earpiece speaker
2 minAlign the new earpiece speaker with the housing slot at the top edge of the chassis and press it firmly into place.

Install the new loudspeaker module
2 minPosition the new loudspeaker assembly over the bottom frame tabs and press down evenly until it snaps flush into position.

Fasten all midframe screws
4 minReinsert and tighten all Phillips screws across the upper midframe and bottom speaker housing until snug.

Reinstall the battery
1 minAlign the gold contacts on the battery with the pins inside the battery bay and press the battery down into place.

Snap the rear cover on
2 minAlign the plastic back cover over the rear of the phone and press firmly along all edges until all clips snap shut.
