   Power down the phone

   Press and hold the power button, then tap Power Off on the screen. Ensure the device is completely powered down before proceeding.

   Remove the back cover

   Insert a plastic prying tool or thumbnail into the notch at the bottom edge of the back cover. Gently pry up to unclip and remove the rear shell.

   Remove the battery

   Lift the battery out from the recess near the bottom using your finger or a plastic opening tool.

   Extract SIM and microSD cards

   Slide out any installed SIM card and microSD card from their respective slots above the battery compartment.

   Unscrew the lower speaker housing

   Use a Phillips #00 screwdriver to remove the screws securing the lower plastic speaker cover over the daughterboard.

   Pry off the lower speaker cover

   Insert a spudger under the edge of the lower speaker assembly and lift it away from the chassis.

   Disconnect the lower interconnect flex cable

   Use a plastic spudger to carefully pry the main ribbon cable connector straight up from the lower board.

   Disconnect the coaxial antenna cable

   Use tweezers or a spudger to gently pop the round antenna cable connector off its socket on the daughterboard.

   Lift the daughterboard from the frame

   Insert a flat tool under the small daughterboard containing the micro-USB port and gently pry it out of the plastic frame.

    Apply flux to the charging port solder joints

    Apply a small amount of liquid soldering flux to the four mounting legs and the rear pin array of the USB port.

    Desolder the port mounting legs

    Heat each of the four structural anchor legs with a soldering iron while adding fresh solder to help transfer heat.

    Remove the old micro-USB port

    Apply heat across the port pins and anchor legs simultaneously using your soldering iron, then gently lift the port off with tweezers.

    Clean the PCB pads with desoldering braid

    Place desoldering braid over the contact pads and anchor holes, pressing with the soldering iron tip to remove excess solder.

    Apply fresh solder to the board pads

    Lightly coat the pin pads with a small bead of fresh solder to ensure reliable connection with the replacement port.

    Position the replacement micro-USB port

    Align the anchor legs and pin contacts of the new port with the matching holes and pads on the daughterboard.

    Solder the port anchor legs

    Solder the four through-hole anchor legs to mechanically secure the micro-USB housing to the board.

    Solder the data and power pin contacts

    Touch the iron tip to each rear pin pad with fine solder wire to bridge the pins cleanly to the board.

    Inspect the solder joints

    Use a magnifying glass to verify there are no solder bridges between adjacent pins and that all joints are shiny and solid.

    Reinstall the daughterboard

    Press the daughterboard back into its recess in the lower portion of the phone frame.

    Reconnect the antenna and flex cables

    Snap the coaxial antenna cable and main ribbon connector back onto their sockets on the daughterboard.

    Reattach the lower speaker cover and screws

    Place the lower speaker assembly over the daughterboard and secure it using the Phillips #00 screws.

    Reinsert the battery and back cover

    Reinsert the SIM/microSD cards, set the battery into place, and press the rear cover firmly around all edges until it snaps shut.
