   Power Off the Device

   Press and hold the power button on the right edge of the Moto E40. Tap 'Power Off' on the screen and wait for the device to shut down completely.

   Eject the SIM Tray

   Insert a SIM eject tool into the small hole next to the SIM tray on the left side of the frame. Push firmly inward to pop out the tray, then pull it out.

   Create a Gap under the Back Cover

   Place a suction cup near the bottom edge of the plastic back cover and pull upward gently. Insert the thin edge of a plastic opening pick into the seam created between the back cover and the screen frame.

   Unclip the Perimeter Clips

   Slide the plastic opening pick along the bottom, left, top, and right edges of the phone. Twist the pick gently to release all plastic perimeter clips holding the back cover.

   Pivot the Back Cover

   Slowly pivot the back cover open from the right side like a book. Do not pull it away completely yet, as the fingerprint sensor cable remains connected to the motherboard.

   Unscrew the Fingerprint Bracket

   Use a Phillips #000 screwdriver to remove the single screw securing the metal protective bracket over the fingerprint sensor ZIF/press connector.

   Disconnect the Fingerprint Cable

   Use the pointed end of a spudger to pry the fingerprint sensor flex cable straight up from its socket on the motherboard. Set the back cover aside.

   Remove Upper Board Screws

   Use a Phillips #000 screwdriver to remove the upper motherboard shield screws. Lift off the metal bracket covering the main battery connector.

   Disconnect the Battery Cable

   Pry the battery press connector straight up from the motherboard using a plastic spudger to prevent short circuits during the repair.

    Unscrew the Loudspeaker Assembly

    Remove the Phillips screws securing the black plastic loudspeaker housing at the bottom of the device.

    Remove the Loudspeaker Module

    Insert a flat plastic spudger beneath the loudspeaker housing. Pry upward to unclip and remove the module from the phone frame.

    Disconnect the Interconnect Cable

    Use the flat end of a spudger to disconnect the main interconnect flex cable connector from the bottom charging sub-board.

    Disconnect the Coaxial Antenna Cable

    Gently grip the metal head of the white coaxial antenna cable using tweezers. Lift straight up to disconnect it from its socket on the sub-board.

    Remove Sub-Board Fastening Screws

    Use a Phillips #000 screwdriver to remove the remaining screws securing the charging port sub-board to the chassis.

    Pry Out the Charging Sub-Board

    Insert a spudger beneath the bottom edge of the charging sub-board. Carefully lift it out of the plastic recess in the frame.

    Seat the Replacement Charging Board

    Align the new charging port sub-board with the bottom compartment of the frame. Press it down flat until it sits flush.

    Secure the New Sub-Board

    Reinsert and tighten the Phillips screws holding the sub-board securely to the phone frame.

    Reconnect the Antenna Cable

    Position the metal coaxial antenna connector directly over its socket on the new board. Press down gently until it snaps into place.

    Attach the Interconnect Cable

    Align the interconnect flex cable press connector over the socket on the charging board and push down securely until it clicks.

    Reinstall the Loudspeaker Module

    Position the loudspeaker assembly over the charging sub-board and press down firmly to engage the side clips. Fasten all speaker screws.

    Reconnect the Battery Cable

    Align and snap the battery press connector back onto its terminal on the motherboard. Reattach the upper motherboard shield and tighten its screws.

    Reconnect the Fingerprint Sensor Cable

    Hold the back cover near the device and snap the fingerprint flex connector into its socket. Place the metal bracket on top and secure it with its screw.

    Snap Back Cover and Insert SIM Tray

    Align the back cover over the frame and press around the perimeter until all plastic clips snap tight. Reinsert the SIM tray into the left slot.
