Power off device
1 minPress and hold the power button, then select Power Off to completely turn off the phone.

Eject SIM tray
1 minInsert a SIM eject tool into the small hole beside the card tray on the left edge and push to eject it.

Insert opening pick
2 minInsert a plastic opening pick into the seam between the plastic back cover and the display frame near the SIM slot.

Unclip back cover
3 minSlide the pick around all four edges of the device to release the plastic retaining clips.

Lift back cover slightly
1 minCarefully pivot the back cover open like a book, taking care not to strain the fingerprint sensor ribbon cable.

Disconnect fingerprint sensor
2 minUse a plastic spudger to pry the fingerprint reader flex cable connector straight up from the motherboard.

Remove motherboard cover screws
4 minUse a Phillips #00 screwdriver to remove all screws securing the plastic upper motherboard cover.

Detach upper cover
2 minLift the upper plastic bracket off the motherboard using tweezers and set it aside.

Disconnect battery cable

Apply isopropyl alcohol
3 minApply a few drops of high-concentration isopropyl alcohol around the battery edges to dissolve the factory adhesive.

4 minInsert a flat plastic card under the battery edge and gently lever it upward out of the frame.

Clean battery well
2 minWipe away remaining adhesive residue inside the battery housing using a lint-free cloth dampened with isopropyl alcohol.

Apply new adhesive
2 minPlace new double-sided battery adhesive strips onto the floor of the empty battery cavity.

Position new battery
2 minAlign the replacement battery in the compartment and press down firmly to set it in the adhesive.

Connect battery flex cable
1 minAlign the battery press connector over its motherboard socket and press down until it snaps into place.

Reinstall upper cover
3 minPlace the plastic motherboard cover back in position and tighten the Phillips #00 screws.

Reconnect fingerprint sensor
2 minAlign and press the fingerprint sensor flex cable connector back onto the motherboard socket.

Snap back cover closed
2 minPress the back cover firmly onto the phone frame until all perimeter clips snap securely shut.

Reinsert SIM tray
1 minSlide the SIM tray back into its slot on the side of the phone until flush with the body.
