Step-by-step

Turn Off the Phone
1 minPress and hold the power button, then select Power Off on the screen. Ensure the device is completely powered down before starting.

Pry Off the Back Cover
1 minInsert a plastic prying tool or fingernail into the small notch at the bottom edge of the phone. Pry upward gently to unclip the rear cover from the chassis.

Remove the Battery
1 minUse your fingernail or plastic prying tool at the notch at the bottom of the battery. Lift the battery up and out of its compartment.

Remove the Midframe Screws
3 minUse a Phillips #00 screwdriver to remove the screws securing the plastic rear midframe to the phone chassis.

Pry Off the Rear Midframe
3 minInsert the flat edge of a spudger between the midframe and the display assembly. Work around the outer edges to release the plastic clips and lift off the midframe.

Disconnect the Power Button Flex Cable
2 minLocate the power and volume button flex cable connector on the motherboard. Use a plastic spudger to carefully pry the press-fit connector straight up from its socket.

Peel Up the Power Button Assembly
2 minUse fine tweezers to gently peel the power button flex cable and key pads away from the inner side rail. Be careful not to bend or tear the fragile ribbon cable.

Position the New Power Button Flex Cable
2 minRemove any protective film from the adhesive backing of the new flex cable. Align the metal contacts and buttons with the alignment pins inside the phone frame.

Attach the Flex Cable Connector
2 minAlign the press-fit connector over its socket on the motherboard. Gently press down on one side and then the other until it snaps into place.

Reattach the Rear Midframe
2 minPosition the rear midframe over the phone housing. Press down along all edges until the plastic tabs snap securely into place.

Fasten the Midframe Screws
3 minReinsert and tighten the Phillips #00 screws to firmly secure the midframe to the chassis.

Reinsert the Battery
1 minAlign the gold contacts of the battery with the pins in the battery compartment. Press the battery down firmly until it rests flat.

Snap On the Back Cover
1 minAlign the back cover over the rear of the phone. Press firmly around all edges until the back cover snaps into place.
