Step-by-step
- 1
Power off the phone
1 minPress and hold the power button, then select Power Off on the screen. Ensure the device is fully shut down before proceeding.

Remove the back cover
1 minInsert a plastic prying tool or fingernail into the notch at the bottom edge of the phone. Pry upward to unclip and remove the rear cover.

Remove the battery
1 minUse your fingernail or a plastic spudger to lift the removable battery out from the bottom recess.

Remove SIM and microSD cards
1 minSlide out any installed SIM card and microSD card from their respective slots above the battery compartment.

Unscrew the midframe
3 minUse a Phillips #00 screwdriver to remove the 10 screws securing the plastic midframe cover.

Detach the midframe
2 minInsert a plastic opening pick between the midframe and the front assembly. Work around the perimeter to release the plastic clips and remove the midframe.

Disconnect the coaxial antenna cable
2 minUse precision tweezers or a spudger to gently pop the black antenna cable connector off the lower sub-board.

Disconnect the sub-board flex cable
1 minUse the flat end of a spudger to pry the main interconnect flex ribbon connector straight up from the lower sub-board.

Remove the microphone sub-board
2 minPry gently underneath the lower sub-board containing the primary microphone using a spudger to free it from the adhesive.

Clean the microphone opening
2 minInspect the microphone channel hole at the bottom of the phone frame. Clear out any dust or lint using a lint-free swab lightly dampened with isopropyl alcohol.

Set the new microphone sub-board
2 minAlign the replacement microphone sub-board over its recess in the lower frame and press down firmly to adhere it in place.

Reconnect the flex ribbon cable
1 minAlign the interconnect flex cable header over its socket on the sub-board and press down until it clicks into place.

Reconnect the coaxial antenna
2 minPosition the antenna cable head over the sub-board terminal and press gently using tweezers until it snaps on firmly.

Position the midframe cover
2 minAlign the plastic midframe cover over the back of the phone and press around the edges until all clips snap securely.

Secure the midframe screws
3 minReinstall the 10 Phillips #00 screws around the frame to secure the assembly tightly.

Reinstall cards, battery, and cover
2 minReinsert your SIM and microSD cards, insert the battery, and snap the outer back cover back into place.
