Step-by-step
- 1
Power off the phone
1 minPress and hold the power button, then tap Power Off on the screen. Ensure the device is fully shut down before proceeding.

Remove the rear cover
2 minInsert a plastic prying tool or fingernail into the notch at the bottom edge. Pry upward to unclip and remove the plastic back cover.

Remove the battery
1 minLift the battery out from the recess near the bottom of the battery compartment. Store it in a safe, cool place.

Eject SIM and microSD cards
1 minSlide any installed SIM card and microSD card straight out of their respective slots.

Remove midframe screws
4 minUse a Phillips #00 screwdriver to remove the 10 screws securing the plastic midframe to the phone frame.

Unclip the plastic midframe
3 minInsert a plastic opening tool between the midframe and display assembly. Slide along the perimeter to release the plastic clips and remove the frame.

Disconnect the front camera
2 minUse the flat end of a spudger to gently pry the front-facing camera connector straight up from its board socket.

Disconnect the display cable
2 minLocate the main display flex cable on the left side of the motherboard. Use a spudger to pop the press connector out of its socket.

Disconnect the digitizer cable
2 minGently flip up the ZIF connector locking tab for the touch digitizer cable. Carefully slide the ribbon cable out of the socket.

Disconnect the antenna cable
2 minUse precision tweezers to gently pry the coaxial antenna cable connector straight off its terminal near the bottom right of the logic board.

Pry up the logic board
3 minInsert a spudger under the top edge of the motherboard. Carefully lift the logic board up and out of the phone casing.

Clean contact points
3 minApply high-concentration isopropyl alcohol to a cotton swab. Gently clean the chassis contact pads and connector sockets to clear debris.

Align the new logic board
3 minPosition the replacement logic board into the phone frame top-first. Lower it flat, ensuring no flex cables are trapped underneath.

Reconnect all flex cables
4 minReattach the front camera connector, main display cable, digitizer ribbon, and coaxial antenna cable securely to the board.

Reinstall the midframe
4 minAlign the plastic midframe over the body and press firmly around the edges until it snaps tight. Fasten the 10 Phillips screws.

Reinsert battery and back cover
2 minReinsert the SIM card, microSD card, and battery. Press the rear cover into place until all perimeter clips lock shut.
