   Power off the phone

   Press and hold the power button, then select Power Off on the screen. Ensure the device is fully shut down before starting.

   Remove the rear cover

   Insert a plastic prying tool or fingernail into the notch near the USB port. Pry the flexible rear cover away from the body.

   Remove the battery

   Lift the removable battery using the notch at the bottom edge. Pull it out of the recess and set it aside.

   Remove SIM and SD cards

   Slide out the SIM card and microSD card from their respective tray slots. Store them in a safe place.

   Unscrew the lower speaker housing

   Use a Phillips #00 screwdriver to remove the screws holding the lower speaker frame. Organize screws to keep track of locations.

   Pry off the speaker frame

   Insert a plastic spudger beneath the lower speaker cover edge. Gently pop the plastic clips and remove the cover.

   Run a spudger around the edges of the midframe to release internal retention clips. Lift the frame away from the phone body.

   Disconnect the coaxial antenna cable

   Pry up the antenna connector on the lower sub-board using tweezers or a spudger. Unclip the thin wire from its routing guide.

    Disconnect the daughterboard main flex cable

    Use a plastic spudger to gently pop up the press-fit ribbon cable connector from the daughterboard pad.

    Remove the sub-board assembly

    Pry the bottom sub-board gently from the chassis using a spudger. Lift the board clear of its positioning pins.

    Apply liquid flux to port contacts

    Dispense a small coat of liquid soldering flux across the micro-USB anchor pins and electrical pads on the board.

    Desolder the housing anchor posts

    Apply heat with a soldering iron and desoldering braid to the four large support solder points. Remove as much old solder as possible.

    Remove the broken micro-USB port

    Gently heat all rear pin connections with the soldering iron while holding the port with tweezers. Pull the damaged port straight off once solder melts.

    Clean pad surfaces with desoldering braid

    Pass fresh desoldering wick over the pads with the iron tip to flat-clean all residual solder. Wipe clean with isopropyl alcohol.

    Position the new charging port

    Align the replacement micro-USB port onto the board pads using fine tweezers. Verify all data pins rest squarely on matching pads.

    Solder anchor support pins

    Touch solder and iron tip to the four mechanical side anchor legs. Secure the port body firmly to the circuit board.

    Solder micro-USB data and power pins

    Apply a tiny amount of solder carefully to each of the small pin contacts on the rear. Work slowly to avoid creating solder bridges.

    Inspect pin solder joints

    Examine the newly soldered pin connections under a magnifying glass. Ensure each joint is shiny and isolated from adjacent pins.

    Reassemble internal boards and body components

    Press the sub-board back into place, reconnect antenna and flex cables, and reattach screw frames. Reinsert battery, cards, and rear cover.
