Step-by-step
- 1
Power down the phone
1 minPress and hold the power button, then tap Power Off on the screen. Strap on your anti-static wrist strap to prevent ESD damage.

Insert opening tool
2 minInsert a plastic prying tool into the small notch located near the lower edge of the back cover.

Pry off back cover
3 minGently twist the prying tool and slide it around the perimeter to release the plastic clips holding the rear cover.

Remove back cover
1 minLift the rear metal cover away from the chassis once all clips are freed.

Remove SIM and memory cards
1 minSlide out the nano-SIM card and microSD card from their respective slots above the battery.

Unscrew lower speaker housing
4 minUse a Phillips #00 screwdriver to remove the seven screws holding down the bottom speaker module.

2 minInsert the flat end of a spudger under the plastic speaker assembly and gently lift it out of the frame.

2 minPry up the press-fit connector of the main interconnect flex cable from the daughterboard using a spudger.

Remove daughterboard screw
1 minUnscrew the single Phillips #00 screw securing the bottom edge of the daughterboard to the phone frame.

Pry up daughterboard
3 minSlide a spudger underneath the daughterboard and carefully pry it up, releasing the mild adhesive underneath.

Apply flux to port pins
2 minApply a small amount of liquid flux to the solder mounting posts and rear signal pins of the broken micro-USB port.

Desolder micro-USB port
8 minApply a heated soldering iron tip and desoldering braid to clear solder from all mounting legs and data pins.

Remove damaged port
3 minGrasp the micro-USB port with tweezers and lift it off the daughterboard once all solder joints are liquefied.

Clean solder pads
3 minClean remaining solder and residue off the board pads using desoldering braid and isopropyl alcohol.

Solder new charging port
10 minAlign the replacement micro-USB port onto the pads, then solder the mounting legs and small signal pins firmly.

Reinstall daughterboard
2 minPlace the daughterboard back into its recess on the phone frame and tighten its single Phillips #00 screw.

Reconnect flex and antenna cables
3 minSnap the main flex cable connector onto the daughterboard and reattach the coaxial antenna cable using tweezers.

Reattach speaker housing and back cover
4 minReinstall the lower speaker housing with its seven screws, reinsert your SIM/microSD cards, and snap the back cover into place.
