Step-by-step

Eject the SIM card tray
1 minInsert a SIM eject tool into the pinhole on the left side of the phone. Push firmly until the tray pops out, then pull it completely free.

Heat the rear panel
2 minApply heat around the edges of the back cover using a heat gun for approximately 2 minutes to soften the underlying adhesive.

Slice the back cover adhesive
3 minInsert a plastic opening pick between the rear cover and the frame. Gently slide the pick along the perimeter to slice the glue.

Lift away the back cover
1 minCarefully separate the rear plastic panel from the frame and set it aside.

Unscrew the upper motherboard shield
3 minRemove the Phillips screws securing the plastic motherboard bezel at the top of the chassis.

Remove the motherboard shield
1 minPry up the motherboard plastic shield with a spudger and lift it out of the device.

Disconnect the battery cable
1 minUse a plastic spudger to detach the battery press-connector from the motherboard to cut power.

Unscrew the loudspeaker module
2 minRemove the Phillips screws holding down the lower loudspeaker housing at the bottom of the device.

Pry out the loudspeaker module
1 minLever the edge of the loudspeaker box up using a spudger and remove it from the lower frame.

Disconnect the display flex cable
1 minUnclip the display ribbon cable connector from the lower daughterboard or mainboard assembly.

Heat the front display assembly
3 minApply heat across the outer edges of the screen for 2 to 3 minutes to break down the front perimeter tape.

Attach a suction cup to the screen
2 minPress a suction cup firmly onto the upper glass surface and pull gently to create a slight gap beneath the bezel.

Slice through the display glass adhesive
3 minInsert a plastic pick under the screen bezel and slice through all remaining adhesive along the four sides.

Remove the screen assembly
2 minLift the damaged display off the frame, carefully threading its ribbon cable through the housing slot.

Clean old adhesive residue
3 minScrape off residual glue from the interior metal ledge of the frame using tweezers and isopropyl alcohol.

Apply new display adhesive strips
3 minPlace narrow double-sided adhesive strips tightly around the inner border of the phone chassis.

Mount the replacement screen
2 minThread the replacement screen ribbon cable through the frame slot and press the glass flat into place.

Reconnect the display and battery cables
2 minSnap the display connector and battery connector firmly back onto their respective board sockets.

Reinstall internal covers and back panel
