Step-by-step

Power Off the Phone
1 minPress and hold the power button, then select Power Off on the screen. Ensure the device is completely powered down before proceeding.

Eject the SIM Tray
1 minInsert a SIM eject tool into the hole next to the SIM tray on the upper left side of the phone. Push firmly to pop the tray out and set it aside.

Heat the Back Cover
3 minApply heat evenly around the outer edges of the back cover for two to three minutes using a heat gun or hair dryer to soften the adhesive.

Attach Suction Cup
1 minPlace a suction cup on the lower portion of the back panel. Press down firmly to establish a strong suction seal.

Slice the Back Cover Adhesive
4 minPull up on the suction cup to create a small gap and insert a plastic pick. Slide the pick along all sides to slice through the adhesive seal.

Remove the Back Cover
1 minLift the back cover away from the phone frame once all adhesive is free. Lay the panel aside on your clean workspace.

Unscrew Upper Midframe
3 minUse a Phillips #000 screwdriver to remove all visible screws securing the upper plastic midframe shield.

Remove Upper Midframe Cover
2 minInsert the point of a plastic spudger under the edge of the plastic midframe shield. Pry gently to release the clips and remove the shield.

Disconnect the Battery Cable
1 minUse the flat end of a plastic spudger to pry the battery press connector straight up from its motherboard socket.

Disconnect Main Interconnect Cable
1 minPry up the main flex cable connector that bridges the logic board to the lower sub-board.

Disconnect Display Cable
1 minLocate the display flex connector near the bottom of the logic board and unclip it with a plastic spudger.

Disconnect Antenna Cable
1 minUse tweezers or a spudger tip to carefully pry the coaxial antenna cable head straight up off its terminal on the logic board.

Remove Motherboard Retaining Screw
1 minLocate and remove the single Phillips screw securing the logic board to the internal frame.

Lift Out the Logic Board
2 minInsert a spudger under the bottom edge of the logic board and gently pry it up. Lift the board out of the phone chassis carefully.
