   Power off the device

   Press and hold the power button, then select Power Off on the screen. Ensure the device is fully shut down before proceeding.

   Eject the SIM card tray

   Insert a SIM eject tool into the hole next to the SIM tray on the left edge. Push firmly to eject the tray, then slide it out completely.

   Heat the rear cover edges

   Use a heat gun or hair dryer to gently warm the perimeter of the back cover for two minutes. This softens the internal adhesive strips holding the cover.

   Insert an opening pick

   Attach a suction cup to the lower back cover and pull upward to create a small gap. Insert a thin plastic opening pick into the seam.

   Slice through perimeter adhesive

   Slide the pick carefully along the edges of the phone to separate the adhesive. Take care around the side power button to avoid damaging internal ribbons.

   Unclip and lift the back cover

   Gently unclip the plastic retaining tabs around the perimeter using a spudger. Lift the back cover carefully from the right side, as a sensor flex cable is attached.

   Disconnect the fingerprint sensor flex cable

   Locate the fingerprint reader ribbon connected to the mainboard. Use a plastic spudger to pry the connector straight up from its socket.

   Remove the upper motherboard shield screws

   Use a Phillips #00 screwdriver to remove the screws securing the upper plastic motherboard shield.

   Remove the motherboard shield

   Insert the point of a spudger beneath the edge of the plastic shield and lift it off the motherboard.

    Disconnect the battery cable

    Locate the battery press connector on the motherboard. Pry it straight up with a plastic spudger to disconnect power.

    Remove the lower speaker screws

    Unscrew the Phillips #00 screws holding the lower loudspeaker assembly to the frame.

    Remove the loudspeaker assembly

    Pry the loudspeaker unit up with a spudger and remove it from the bottom of the phone.

    Apply isopropyl alcohol to adhesive

    Apply a few drops of 90%+ isopropyl alcohol around the edges of the battery to loosen the tough underlying glue.

    Locate and pull adhesive tabs

    Locate the exposed adhesive pull-tabs at the bottom or top of the battery. Slowly pull the tabs at a low angle to strip the adhesive out from underneath.

    Pry out the old battery

    Insert a flat plastic opening card under the battery to break any remaining adhesive bond. Lift the battery out of the chassis without bending it.

    Clean the battery recess

    Wipe away remaining adhesive residue inside the battery well using a lint-free cloth dampened with isopropyl alcohol.

    Apply new battery adhesive

    Peel the backing off new custom adhesive strips and lay them flat inside the battery recess.

    Install the replacement battery

    Position the new battery into the housing and press down firmly across its surface to secure it to the adhesive strips.

    Reconnect the battery cable

    Align the battery press connector over its motherboard socket and press down firmly until it snaps into place.

    Reinstall the loudspeaker assembly

    Set the lower loudspeaker unit back into position and replace the Phillips screws securing it.

    Reattach the upper motherboard shield

    Place the upper motherboard shield over the mainboard and reinstall all retaining screws.

    Reconnect the fingerprint sensor cable

    Bring the back cover close to the frame and snap the fingerprint reader connector onto the motherboard socket.

    Reattach the back cover

    Align the back cover over the phone body and press around the perimeter until the plastic clips snap tightly into place.

    Reinsert the SIM card tray

    Slide the SIM card tray back into its slot on the side of the phone until flush with the outer frame.
