Power Off the Device

Eject the SIM Card Tray
1 minInsert a SIM eject tool into the hole next to the SIM tray on the left side of the frame. Push inward firmly to release the tray and pull it out.

Heat Rear Cover Edges
2 minApply a heat gun or hair dryer around the edges of the back panel for 2 minutes to soften the adhesive underneath.

Attach Suction Cup
1 minPlace a suction cup on the lower portion of the back panel. Pull up gently to create a small gap between the panel and the frame.

Slice Rear Adhesive
3 minInsert a plastic opening pick into the gap and carefully slide it around the perimeter of the phone to cut the glue.

Remove the Back Cover
2 minLift the rear panel away from the frame carefully. Lay it aside in a safe spot.

Unscrew Motherboard Shield
3 minUse a Phillips #000 screwdriver to remove all screws holding the upper plastic motherboard cover in place.

Remove Motherboard Shield
2 minInsert a spudger under the lip of the motherboard cover and lift it off the chassis.

Disconnect Battery Connector
1 minUse the flat end of a spudger to pry the battery flex cable straight up from its motherboard socket.

Unscrew Speaker Assembly
2 minRemove the Phillips screws holding the lower loudspeaker module to the bottom of the phone frame.

Remove Speaker Assembly
2 minPry up the plastic loudspeaker housing with a spudger and lift it out of the phone.

Disconnect Display Flex Cable
1 minUse a spudger to gently pop the display flex connector off the motherboard socket.

Heat Screen Perimeter
3 minWarm the entire outer perimeter of the front screen using a heat gun for 2 to 3 minutes to loosen the factory adhesive.

Separate Screen Glass
4 minAttach a suction cup to the front screen, pull up, and slide an opening pick around all four edges to slice the adhesive.

Remove Damaged Screen
2 minThread the screen flex cable through the gap in the midframe while lifting the broken screen off the phone.

Clean Midframe Frame
4 minScrape off residual adhesive and broken glass bits using tweezers and isopropyl alcohol until the rim is completely clean.

Apply Display Adhesive
3 minLay double-sided adhesive strips along the clean inner ledge of the device frame.

Install Replacement Screen
3 minFeed the display flex cable through the midframe slot and seat the new screen into the housing, pressing gently along the edges.
