Step-by-step

Power off the device completely
1 minPress and hold the power button, then select Power Off on the screen. Ensure the phone is completely shut down before proceeding.

Eject the SIM card tray
1 minInsert a SIM eject tool into the hole next to the SIM tray on the side of the phone. Push firmly until the tray pops out, then remove it.

Heat the rear cover edges
2 minUse a heat gun or hair dryer on low heat to warm the outer edges of the back panel for two minutes. This softens the internal adhesive clips.

Create a gap with a suction cup
2 minAttach a suction cup near the bottom edge of the rear cover. Pull gently upward to create a small gap between the panel and the frame.

Unclip the back panel
3 minInsert a plastic prying pick into the gap and slide it along the perimeter to release the plastic clips holding the back panel.

Lift and remove the back cover
1 minCarefully lift the rear cover off the chassis. Set it aside in a safe, clean space.

Unscrew the lower speaker housing
2 minUse a Phillips #000 screwdriver to remove the screws securing the bottom loudspeaker cover.

Remove the loudspeaker module
2 minInsert a spudger under the edge of the loudspeaker assembly and gently lever it up and out of the phone frame.

Disconnect the interconnect flex cable
1 minUse the flat end of a spudger to gently pop the ribbon cable connector off the lower microphone sub-board.

Disconnect the coaxial antenna cable
1 minUse tweezers to carefully lift the small round coaxial antenna connector straight up off its socket on the sub-board.

Remove the damaged sub-board
2 minPry gently beneath the edge of the bottom sub-board to free it from the phone frame, taking care not to damage surrounding components.

Set the new microphone sub-board in place
2 minPosition the new daughterboard containing the primary microphone into the bottom recess and press down gently to seat it.

Snap the antenna cable back into position
1 minAlign the coaxial antenna head precisely over its socket on the new sub-board and press down lightly with tweezers until it clicks.

Attach the main interconnect flex cable
1 minAlign the ribbon connector over its socket on the sub-board and press down firmly with your thumb until it snaps into place.

Reinstall the loudspeaker cover and screws
2 minPlace the loudspeaker module over the bottom sub-board and tighten the Phillips screws until snug.

Snap the back cover back onto the frame
2 minAlign the rear panel over the phone and press firmly along all edges until the plastic clips snap securely shut.

Reinsert the SIM card tray
1 minSlide the SIM card tray back into its slot on the side of the phone until flush with the body.
