   Power off the device

   Press and hold the power button on the right edge, then tap Power Off on the screen. Ensure the phone is completely shut down before proceeding.

   Eject the SIM tray

   Insert a SIM eject tool or paperclip into the small hole on the left side of the phone. Push firmly until the SIM card tray pops out, then pull it out completely.

   Create a gap in the rear cover

   Insert a plastic opening pick into the thin seam between the display assembly and the rear plastic cover, right above the SIM tray slot.

   Unclip the side edges

   Slide the opening pick along the left edge and around the corners to release the internal plastic retaining clips.

   Unclip the remaining perimeter

   Continue sliding the pick along the bottom, right, and top edges of the phone until the rear cover snaps free.

   Gently lift the back cover

   Lift the rear cover slightly from the top edge, taking care not to pull hard. A delicate flex cable still connects the fingerprint reader to the mainboard.

   Remove the fingerprint bracket screw

   Use a Phillips #000 screwdriver to remove the single screw securing the metal fingerprint sensor bracket.

   Remove the fingerprint bracket

   Use tweezers to lift the small metal bracket covering the fingerprint sensor connector off the motherboard.

   Disconnect the fingerprint sensor flex cable

   Use the flat end of a plastic spudger to gently pry the fingerprint reader press connector straight up from its socket.

    Set aside the rear cover

    Lift the rear cover completely away from the phone body and place it in a safe area.

    Remove motherboard shield screws

    Use a Phillips #000 screwdriver to remove all screws holding the top plastic motherboard shield in place.

    Remove the motherboard shield

    Insert a spudger under the edge of the motherboard shield and lift it up and off the frame.

    Disconnect the battery cable

    Use the plastic spudger to pry the battery flex cable connector straight up from the motherboard connector to cut power.

    Apply heat to soften adhesive

    Use a heat gun or hair dryer on low heat to warm the center of the display screen for roughly 60 seconds to soften the battery adhesive underneath.

    Apply isopropyl alcohol

    Apply a few drops of 90%+ isopropyl alcohol around the outer edges of the battery to weaken the remaining adhesive bond.

    Pry up the battery

    Insert a plastic prying tool beneath the battery from the side, taking care not to puncture the pouch. Gently lever the battery upward.

    Remove the old battery

    Lift the battery out of the recess and dispose of it properly according to local chemical waste regulations.

    Clean old adhesive residue

    Wipe the interior battery well with a lint-free cloth dampened with isopropyl alcohol to remove leftover tape and glue.

    Apply new adhesive strips

    Peel the backing off new double-sided battery adhesive strips and lay them flat inside the battery recess in the chassis.

    Install the new battery

    Position the new battery over the recess, align its connector roughly with the motherboard socket, and press it firmly into place.

    Align the battery flex cable press connector directly over its motherboard terminal and press down firmly until it clicks.

    Reinstall the motherboard shield

    Place the upper plastic motherboard shield back over the top section of the phone and align all screw holes.

    Reinstall and tighten all Phillips #000 screws to hold the upper motherboard cover secure.

    Reconnect the fingerprint sensor cable

    Hold the back cover near the device and snap the fingerprint sensor flex cable onto its terminal on the motherboard.

    Reinstall the fingerprint bracket and screw

    Position the metal bracket over the fingerprint cable connector and replace the single Phillips #000 screw.

    Snap the rear cover into place

    Align the rear cover with the frame edges and press down around the entire perimeter until all clips snap firmly shut.

    Reinsert the SIM card tray

    Slide the SIM card tray back into its slot on the left edge of the phone until it sits flush against the case.
