   Power off the device

   Press and hold the power button, then tap Power Off on the screen. Ensure the phone is completely shut down before starting.

   Remove the back cover

   Insert a plastic opening tool into the notch at the bottom edge of the phone. Pry upward to unclip and lift away the rear shell.

   Remove SIM and SD cards

   Use your fingernail or tweezers to slide out any SIM card or microSD card from their respective side slots.

   Unscrew the midframe

   Use a Torx T4 screwdriver to remove the fourteen screws securing the inner plastic midframe to the phone chassis.

   Unclip midframe edges

   Insert an opening pick into the seam around the outer edge of the midframe. Slide it along the perimeter to release the plastic retention clips.

   Lift away midframe

   Gently lift the inner midframe assembly straight off the front housing and set it aside.

   Disconnect the battery

   Use the flat end of a plastic spudger to pry the battery connector straight up from its motherboard socket.

   Remove the battery

   Insert a plastic opening card under the battery to break the adhesive backing, then carefully lift the battery out.

   Disconnect display ribbon cable

   Use precision tweezers to flip up the small locking lever on the ZIF display connector, then slide the ribbon cable out.

    Disconnect digitizer ribbon cable

    Flip up the retaining latch on the digitizer ZIF connector near the top of the board and remove the cable.

    Unscrew the motherboard

    Remove the single Torx T4 screw holding the top section of the main logic board to the frame.

    Remove the motherboard

    Carefully lift the logic board up from the bottom edge and remove it completely from the front shell assembly.

    Apply solder flux to port joints

    Apply a small amount of liquid or gel soldering flux to the anchor pins and data contacts of the defective micro-USB port.

    Desolder the micro-USB port

    Heat the mounting pins using a soldering iron or hot air station while gently lifting the USB port away with tweezers.

    Clean motherboard solder pads

    Place desoldering wick over the remaining solder on the pads and apply iron heat to absorb excess solder, then wipe with isopropyl alcohol.

    Solder new charging port

    Align the replacement micro-USB port onto the solder pads, then solder the four mounting legs and five pin contacts securely.
