   Eject the SIM card tray

   Insert a SIM eject tool into the hole on the right edge of the LG V50 ThinQ. Remove the SIM and microSD card tray completely from the frame.

   Heat the rear glass edges

   Apply heat to the outer edges of the back cover using a heat gun on low power for 2 minutes to soften the rear panel adhesive.

   Attach suction cup and slice adhesive

   Place a suction cup on the lower portion of the back glass and pull up to create a small gap. Slide a plastic opening pick into the seam and carefully trace along the perimeter.

   Lift off the rear glass panel

   Gently lift the back cover away from the phone chassis. Clean away any residual adhesive tape around the rim with isopropyl alcohol.

   Unscrew the motherboard bracket screws

   Use a Phillips #00 screwdriver to remove the 16 screws holding down the top wireless charging coil assembly and lower speaker housing.

   Remove the wireless charging bracket

   Pry up the edges of the plastic midframe shield using a spudger and lift the wireless charging coil assembly out of the chassis.

   Disconnect the battery flex cable

   Use the flat end of a plastic spudger to disconnect the battery press connector from the motherboard to cut power to the device.

   Disconnect the volume key flex cable

   Locate the volume key press connector on the left side of the motherboard and pop it straight up using a spudger.

   Heat the side frame adhesive

   Warm the outer left edge of the aluminum frame for 30 seconds to loosen the adhesive tape holding the volume button flex ribbon.

    Peel off the volume button flex cable

    Slide fine tweezers beneath the volume button flex ribbon and peel it away from the inner side of the frame.

    Remove the metal volume key bracket

    Unclip the small metal retaining clip securing the physical volume buttons inside the left side slot using precision tweezers.

    Push out the old volume buttons

    Push the physical volume keys outward from inside the housing cavity to remove them from the phone.

    Seat the new volume buttons

    Insert the replacement physical volume buttons into the slots on the left side of the outer frame until they sit flush.

    Install the new volume flex cable

    Align the replacement volume button flex cable with the alignment pins inside the chassis and press firmly to adhere it.

    Reconnect the volume and battery cables

    Snap the volume flex cable connector onto the motherboard, then press the battery flex cable firmly into its socket.

    Reinstall the midframe cover

    Position the wireless charging midframe shield over the motherboard and reinsert the 16 Phillips #00 screws.

    Reseal and attach the rear panel

    Apply new adhesive strips along the phone frame perimeter, align the back glass, and press firmly around all edges to secure it.
