Step-by-step
- 1
Power off the phone
1 minPress and hold the power key, then select Power Off on the screen. Ensure the device is completely powered down before continuing.

Remove the SIM card tray
1 minInsert a SIM eject pin into the hole on the side frame. Press firmly until the tray pops out, then pull it completely free.

Heat the rear glass panel
2 minApply a heat gun on low power along the outer edges of the back glass for two minutes to soften the factory adhesive.

Attach the suction cup
1 minPlace a suction cup near the bottom edge of the rear glass cover and press firmly to create a seal.

Slice the rear adhesive
4 minPull up on the suction cup to create a small gap and insert a plastic opening pick. Slide the pick along all sides to release the glue.

Remove the rear glass cover
1 minGently lift the back glass off the frame. Place it on a clean surface to keep the internal camera lens clean.

Unscrew the wireless charging shield
3 minRemove the ten Phillips #00 screws holding the upper plastic cover and wireless charging coil in place.

Detach the wireless charging coil
2 minInsert a spudger under the top lip of the upper plastic midframe cover and carefully pop it loose from the phone.

Disconnect the battery cable
1 minUse a plastic spudger to pry the battery flex connector straight up from its socket on the main motherboard.

Disconnect the power button flex cable
2 minLocate the power button ribbon cable connector near the side of the motherboard and disconnect it using the pointed tip of a spudger.

Loosen motherboard screws
2 minRemove the single Phillips #00 screw securing the main motherboard assembly to give yourself space to access the internal button mechanism.

Peel out the faulty power button cable
3 minUse fine-tip tweezers to carefully lift the power button flex cable and internal contact pad away from the inside of the frame.

Install the new power button flex cable
2 minAlign the replacement power button cable assembly precisely with the internal metal frame bracket and press it firm into place.

Reassemble components
4 minSeat the motherboard back in position, reconnect the power button flex cable and battery, and secure the wireless charging frame with its screws.
