Step-by-step

Eject SIM and microSD tray
1 minInsert a SIM eject tool or thin paperclip into the pinhole on the right side of the device to pop out the tray.

Heat perimeter of rear glass
3 minApply a heat gun or iOpener around all edges of the back cover for two minutes to soften the underlying adhesive.

Slice rear glass adhesive
4 minAttach a suction cup near the bottom edge, pull up, and slide a plastic pick beneath the glass to cut through the adhesive seal.

Lift away rear cover
2 minCarefully lift the glass back cover off the chassis and set it aside.

Unscrew midframe panel
3 minRemove the 12 Phillips #00 screws holding down the upper wireless charging assembly and lower speaker housing.

Pry off top midframe
2 minInsert a plastic spudger under the top midframe and unclip the wireless charging assembly from the phone frame.

Disconnect battery flex cable

Disconnect camera and sensor flexes
3 minUnplug the front camera, rear cameras, and sensor flex connectors from the top motherboard using a plastic spudger.

Remove motherboard assembly
2 minGently pry up from the bottom edge of the main logic board and lift it out of the chassis.

Remove bottom loudspeaker module
2 minPry up and remove the bottom speaker housing to access the lower daughterboard.

Remove charging port sub-board
2 minDisconnect the main interconnect flex cable and lift the charging port daughterboard out of the frame.

Scrub corrosion with isopropyl alcohol
10 minDip a soft ESD brush into high-concentration isopropyl alcohol and gently scrub liquid residue from both circuit boards.

Dry all board components
15 minLet the motherboard and daughterboard air-dry completely on a clean lint-free surface for at least 15 minutes.

Reinstall logic boards and connect flexes
4 minPlace the sub-board and main motherboard back into position, then snap all press connectors securely onto the boards.

Reconnect battery and reattach midframe
4 minAttach the battery flex cable, press the wireless charging midframe into place, and reinstall the 12 Phillips screws.
