Step-by-step
- 1
Power off phone and remove SIM card tray
1 minTurn off your LG V40 ThinQ completely. Insert a SIM eject tool into the tray hole on the side to pop out and remove the SIM tray.

Heat back glass cover edges
2 minApply heat around the perimeter of the back glass with a heat gun for 2 minutes to soften the rear adhesive.

Attach suction cup to lower back glass
1 minPlace a suction cup on the lower third of the rear glass cover and gently pull upward to create a small gap.

Slice perimeter adhesive with opening pick
3 minInsert an opening pick into the gap and slide it carefully around all four edges to sever the back glass adhesive.

Remove back glass cover
1 minLift the rear glass cover off the frame and set it aside safely on a clean surface.

Unscrew upper wireless charging coil shield
2 minUse a Phillips #000 screwdriver to remove the 10 screws securing the upper shield and wireless charging coil frame.

Remove wireless charging module
1 minPry up the edges of the plastic wireless charging shield with a spudger and lift it off the phone.

Unscrew lower loudspeaker housing
2 minRemove the 5 Phillips #000 screws securing the lower loudspeaker shield cover.

Remove lower loudspeaker assembly
1 minInsert a spudger under the edge of the loudspeaker cover and gently lift to remove it from the bottom frame.

Disconnect main flex cable
1 minUse the flat end of a spudger to pry up and disconnect the main interconnect flex cable from the bottom daughterboard.

Disconnect coaxial antenna cables
2 minCarefully snap up the two coaxial antenna cable connectors from the daughterboard headers using tweezers.

Remove daughterboard retaining screw
1 minUse a Phillips #000 screwdriver to remove the single Phillips screw securing the daughterboard containing the microphone.

Remove defective microphone daughterboard
2 minGently lever the daughterboard assembly up using a plastic prying tool and lift it out of the chassis.

Insert new microphone daughterboard
2 minAlign the replacement microphone daughterboard into the bottom chassis cavity and press it gently into place.

Fasten daughterboard retaining screw
1 minReinstall the single Phillips #000 screw to secure the new daughterboard to the frame.

Reconnect coaxial antenna cables
2 minAlign and gently press the two coaxial antenna connectors back onto their matching headers until they snap.

Reconnect main flex cable
1 minAlign the interconnect flex cable connector over the daughterboard socket and press firmly until it clicks.

Reinstall lower loudspeaker assembly
2 minPosition the loudspeaker housing back over the bottom daughterboard and replace the 5 Phillips #000 screws.

Reinstall wireless charging module and seal phone
4 minReattach the upper shield module with its 10 screws, apply fresh adhesive strips, and press the rear glass firmly onto the frame.
