Step-by-step

Eject the SIM tray
1 minInsert a SIM eject tool or thin paperclip into the pinhole near the top of the phone and press firmly to pop out the SIM tray.

Heat the rear glass
2 minUse a heat gun or hair dryer on low heat to warm the edges of the back cover for 2 minutes to soften the internal adhesive.

Attach a suction cup
2 minPlace a suction handle near the bottom edge of the glass back cover and pull up to create a subtle gap between the glass and body.

Slice the rear panel adhesive
5 minInsert an opening pick into the gap and slice along all four edges of the back cover to cut through the adhesive tape.

Remove the back cover
1 minLift the rear glass cover straight off the chassis and set it aside on a clean surface.

Unscrew the upper motherboard shield
3 minUse a Phillips #00 screwdriver to remove the 10 screws securing the upper plastic cover and wireless charging pad.

Remove the wireless charging shield
2 minInsert a plastic spudger under the top plastic shield and pry upward to release it from the frame.

Disconnect the battery cable
1 minUse the flat end of a plastic spudger to pry the battery flex connector straight up from its motherboard socket.

Unscrew the lower loudspeaker module
2 minRemove the 5 Phillips #00 screws securing the lower plastic loudspeaker assembly over the sub-board.

Remove the loudspeaker module
2 minLever the plastic loudspeaker unit up from the bottom edge and lift it out of the phone.

Disconnect the daughterboard interconnect flex
1 minPry up the press-fit main interconnect flex cable connector attached to the lower microphone daughterboard.

Disconnect the coaxial antenna cables
2 minUse fine-tip tweezers to gently lift and disconnect the red and white coaxial antenna heads from the daughterboard.

Pry out the old microphone sub-board
3 minGently slide a flat opening tool under the USB-C and microphone sub-board, prying upward to break the light adhesive holding it down.

Install the new microphone sub-board
2 minPlace the new microphone sub-board into the lower housing recess and press down lightly to seat it flush.

Reconnect the coaxial antenna cables
2 minAlign the antenna cable heads over their sub-board sockets and press down gently with tweezers until they click into place.

Reconnect the daughterboard flex cable
1 minAlign the main flex connector over the sub-board and press straight down until you feel a firm snap.

Reconnect the battery cable
1 minSnap the battery flex connector back onto the mainboard to restore power connections.

Reinstall the loudspeaker and shields
4 minPosition the loudspeaker and upper shield back onto the housing, then reinstall and tighten all Phillips screws.
