Step-by-step

Power off the device
1 minPress and hold the power button, then tap Power Off on the screen to completely shut down your LG V30s ThinQ.

Eject the SIM card tray
1 minInsert a SIM eject tool into the small hole on the side of the phone to pop out the SIM and microSD card tray.

Heat the rear glass panel
3 minApply a heat gun or hairdryer around the edges of the back glass for two minutes to soften the factory adhesive.

Attach suction cup tool
2 minPress the suction cup onto the lower portion of the back glass and pull up firmly to create a small gap.

Insert opening pick
2 minSlide a thin plastic prying tool or opening pick into the seam between the glass back and the frame.

4 minMove the plastic pick along all four edges of the device to cut through the glue holding the rear cover.

3 minRemove the five Phillips #00 screws securing the bottom speaker housing to the phone chassis.

2 minPry up the plastic midframe shield containing the wireless charging coil and lift it away from the frame.

Disconnect the battery flex
1 minUse a plastic spudger to carefully snap the battery press connector off the motherboard to cut power.

Disconnect lower sub-board cables
2 minDisconnect the main interconnect ribbon cable and display flex cable from the bottom sub-board.

Remove defective microphone sub-board
2 minGently pry beneath the daughterboard containing the primary microphone and USB-C port to remove it from the frame.

Position replacement microphone board
2 minAlign the new sub-board module in the lower recess of the phone chassis and press it flush into position.

Reconnect sub-board flex cables
2 minAlign and press down on the interconnect and display flex connectors until they click firmly into place.

Reconnect battery and test
5 minPress the battery cable back onto the motherboard, temporarily place the speaker module, and power on the phone to test voice recording.

Reassemble phone components
6 minReinstall the top midframe shield, bottom speaker housing, tighten all Phillips screws, and apply new adhesive to seal the back cover.
