Step-by-step

Remove the SIM card tray
1 minInsert a SIM eject tool into the hole at the side of the phone and press to release the tray. Remove the SIM and microSD card tray entirely.

Heat the rear glass
3 minUse a heat gun or heated iOpener around the edges of the back cover for two minutes to soften the internal adhesive.

Slice the rear adhesive
5 minAttach a suction cup near the bottom edge, pull upwards to create a gap, and insert an opening pick. Carefully slide the pick around the perimeter to cut the glue.

Remove the rear glass panel
2 minLift the rear glass cover off the frame and set it aside safely on a soft surface.

Unscrew the top midframe
3 minRemove the ten Phillips #00 screws securing the wireless charging module and top protective midframe.

Remove the upper midframe
2 minInsert a plastic spudger beneath the edge of the wireless charging assembly and pry up to lift it out of the chassis.

Unscrew the loudspeaker module
2 minRemove the five Phillips #00 screws securing the bottom loudspeaker housing.

Remove the loudspeaker module
2 minUse a spudger to pop the loudspeaker module free from the bottom of the device.

Disconnect the battery cable
1 minPry the battery press connector straight up from the motherboard using the flat end of a plastic spudger.

Disconnect the display cable
2 minLever the main display flex cable connector straight up off the lower right portion of the logic board.

Disconnect the camera modules
2 minDisconnect both the front-facing camera and the rear dual-camera module ribbon cables from the top of the logic board.

Disconnect remaining interconnect flex cables
2 minDisconnect the headphone jack, proximity sensor, and lower sub-board ribbon cables from their motherboard headers.

Unscrew the logic board
1 minRemove the single Phillips #00 screw holding the logic board down to the phone frame near the top edge.

Lift out the logic board
3 minGently pry up the bottom edge of the logic board and lift it out from the chassis, making sure no cables catch on the board.

Install the replacement logic board
4 minLower the new logic board into the frame top-first, ensuring all press-fit flex cables remain accessible on top of the board.
