Step-by-step
- 1
Heat the rear glass
3 minApply a heated iOpener or heat gun to the back cover for two minutes to soften the adhesive along the edges.

Attach a suction cup
2 minPlace a suction cup near the bottom edge of the rear glass and pull upward firmly to create a slight gap.

Insert an opening pick
2 minSlide a plastic opening pick into the seam between the rear glass and the metal frame.

Slice the rear adhesive
4 minMove the pick carefully along all four sides of the device to cut through the perimeter adhesive.

Remove the rear glass panel
1 minLift the rear glass panel off the chassis completely and set it aside.

Unscrew the upper midframe shield
3 minRemove the Phillips #00 screws securing the upper plastic midframe and wireless charging assembly.

Remove the midframe shield
2 minPry up the upper midframe shield using a spudger and lift it off the phone.

Unscrew the speaker housing
2 minRemove the Phillips #00 screws securing the lower loudspeaker cover at the bottom of the phone.

Remove the speaker housing
2 minInsert a spudger beneath the speaker module and pry upward to free it from the frame.

Disconnect the battery cable
1 minUse a plastic spudger to pry the battery connector straight up from the motherboard.

Disconnect the daughterboard flex cable
1 minPry up the main interconnect flex connector attached to the lower microphone sub-board.

Disconnect the antenna coaxial cables
2 minUse fine tweezers to gently unclip the two antenna cable heads from the lower sub-board.

Remove the faulty microphone sub-board
2 minPry the microphone daughterboard out of its recess in the lower frame.

Install the new microphone sub-board
2 minPosition the new sub-board into the lower recess and press down firmly to set it in place.

Reconnect the cables to the sub-board
2 minSnap the two coaxial antenna cables and the main interconnect flex cable onto the sub-board connectors.

Reconnect the battery
1 minAlign the battery press connector over its socket and press down until it snaps into place.

Reinstall the speaker housing
2 minPlace the loudspeaker assembly over the sub-board and tighten its retaining screws.

Reinstall the upper midframe
3 minSnap the midframe shield into position and secure all removed Phillips screws.

Apply new glass adhesive
3 minClean the old tape remnants with isopropyl alcohol and lay down fresh pre-cut adhesive strips around the frame.

Seal the rear glass panel
2 minAlign the rear glass with the chassis and press firmly around all edges to secure the seal.
