   Turn off the phone

   Press and hold the power button on the back of the phone, then tap Power Off on the screen. Ensure the device is fully powered down before proceeding.

   Eject the SIM tray

   Insert a SIM eject tool or paperclip into the hole next to the tray on the side of the device. Remove the SIM card and MicroSD tray.

   Heat the rear glass panel

   Apply a heated iOpener or heat gun around the perimeter of the rear glass for two minutes. This softens the waterproof adhesive securing the back cover.

   Attach a suction handle

   Place a suction cup on the lower portion of the back glass. Press it down firmly to create a seal.

   Create a gap with an opening pick

   Pull up on the suction handle while inserting a thin opening pick into the seam at the bottom edge. Slide the pick slightly to break the initial seal.

   Slice the lower adhesive

   Slide the opening pick along the bottom edge of the phone to slice through the adhesive layer. Keep the pick flat to avoid damaging internal components.

   Slice the side adhesive

   Insert a second pick and run it up the right side of the device to cut through the perimeter glue. Reheat the glass if you feel strong resistance.

   Slice the remaining perimeter adhesive

   Guide the pick around the top and left edges of the glass back cover. Ensure all sides are free from adhesive bond.

   Lift away the rear panel

   Gently lift the rear glass clear of the phone frame. Set the back glass aside in a safe location.

    Unscrew the upper shield frame

    Use a Phillips #00 screwdriver to remove the ten screws securing the upper midframe and wireless charging pad assembly.

    Remove the upper shield and wireless charging pad

    Pry up the edges of the upper midframe using a spudger and remove the plastic cover assembly.

    Unscrew the lower speaker housing

    Remove the five Phillips #00 screws holding the lower speaker module in place.

    Remove the speaker housing

    Insert a spudger under the edge of the speaker enclosure and lift it out of the chassis.

    Disconnect the battery cable

    Use the flat end of a plastic spudger to snap the battery connector straight up from its motherboard socket.

    Apply adhesive remover

    Apply a few drops of highly concentrated isopropyl alcohol or adhesive remover along the edges of the battery. Allow it to sit for one minute to soften the glue.

    Pry up the battery

    Insert a flat plastic opening tool beneath the bottom edge of the battery. Carefully lever the battery upward until it detaches from the frame.

    Lift out the old battery

    Remove the old battery from the device bay. Do not bend or puncture the battery during removal.

    Clean the battery well

    Wipe away remaining adhesive residue inside the battery compartment using isopropyl alcohol and a lint-free cloth.

    Install new battery adhesive

    Peel the backing from new battery adhesive strips and lay them flat into the battery well.

    Set the new battery in place

    Align the replacement battery into the frame and press down firmly to set it into the new adhesive.

    Connect the battery cable

    Align the press connector above its motherboard terminal and gently snap it into place.

    Reinstall the speaker housing

    Position the lower speaker enclosure and press it flat. Fasten the five Phillips #00 screws.

    Reinstall the upper shield and wireless charging pad

    Place the upper midframe assembly back over the motherboard and secure it with the ten Phillips #00 screws.

    Apply back cover adhesive

    Clean remaining old glue off the rear glass, then stick a precut adhesive gasket onto the perimeter of the frame.

    Reseal the back glass

    Align the rear cover with the phone body and press down firmly along all edges to seat the adhesive.
