Safety
- Power down the phone completely before beginning disassembly.
- Wear an anti-static wrist strap to prevent electrostatic discharge from damaging sensitive micro-components.
- Do not bend or apply leverage to the lithium-ion battery or motherboard circuit elements.
Overview
Step-by-step
- 1
Press the back cover release button
1 minPush the metal release button on the lower right side of the device to pop the back cover open. Lift the back cover off the phone and set it aside.

Remove the battery
1 minUse your fingernail or a plastic opening tool to lift the battery out from the notch at the bottom of the battery bay.

Remove the SIM and microSD cards
1 minSlide out the microSD card and SIM card from their respective slots located above the battery compartment.

Remove the end cap screws
2 minUnscrew the four Phillips #00 screws securing the top and bottom plastic end caps to the frame.

Pry off the top end cap
2 minInsert a plastic opening pick beneath the top end cap and pry gently upward to release the retaining clips.

Pry off the bottom end cap
2 minInsert a plastic opening pick under the bottom end cap and unclip it from the housing.

Remove the midframe screws
4 minUnscrew the 16 Phillips #00 screws securing the rear midframe assembly to the display housing.

Separate the midframe from the display
3 minRun a plastic opening tool along the perimeter seam between the midframe and display to release all hidden plastic clips.

Disconnect the front camera flex connectors
2 minUse the flat end of a spudger to pop the dual front-facing camera flex connectors straight up off the motherboard.

Disconnect the display connector
2 minGently pry the main display ribbon cable press-fit connector off its motherboard socket.

Disconnect the headphone jack flex connector
2 minUse a spudger to lift the headphone jack assembly connector off the lower section of the logic board.

Lift out the old logic board
3 minGently pivot the top edge of the logic board upward and remove it completely from the front housing.

Place the replacement logic board
3 minAlign the new logic board with the housing pegs and press it down gently, making sure no flex cables get trapped beneath.

Reconnect all flex cables
3 minPress down firmly on the front camera, display, and headphone jack connectors until they click into their sockets on the board.

Reattach the midframe and screws
4 minSnap the rear midframe firmly onto the display assembly and reinstall the 16 Phillips #00 midframe screws.

Reinstall end caps, battery, and back cover
3 minSnap the top and bottom end caps into place, fasten their four screws, insert the battery, and press the back cover shut.
After your LG V20 logic board repair
Power the V20 back on and test the logic board repair function before you put every screw away. Check touch/display response, charging, cameras, buttons, and wireless as relevant to this repair. If something fails after closing the device, reopen carefully and reseat the connectors for this LG V20 job before assuming the part is defective.
