Step-by-step

Power Off the Phone
1 minPress and hold the power button, then tap Power Off to safely shut down the device before starting.

Eject the SIM Tray
1 minInsert a SIM eject tool into the hole next to the SIM tray and push firmly to pop out the tray.

Heat the Back Panel
2 minUse a heat gun or hair dryer around the edges of the rear cover for two minutes to soften the perimeter adhesive.

Attach the Suction Cup
1 minPress a suction cup firmly onto the lower section of the back cover and pull upward to create a slim gap.

Slice the Perimeter Adhesive
4 minInsert a plastic pick into the gap and carefully slide it around all four edges to slice through the adhesive seal.

Remove the Rear Glass Panel
1 minLift the rear panel away from the phone body and place it aside.

Unscrew the Midframe
3 minUse a Phillips #000 screwdriver to remove the screws securing the midframe and loudspeaker assembly.

Pry Away the Midframe
2 minInsert a spudger under the plastic midframe edge and gently unsnap it from the chassis clips.

Disconnect the Battery
1 minUse the flat end of a plastic spudger to pry the battery connector straight up from the motherboard.

Disconnect the Lower Sub-Board Ribbon
1 minGently pry up the ribbon flex cable connector linked to the bottom microphone daughterboard.

Unseat the Microphone Assembly
2 minUse tweezers to carefully lift the bottom microphone flex board out of its recessed housing in the frame.

Install the Replacement Microphone Board
2 minPosition the new microphone board into the chassis cavity and press gently until it rests flat.

Reconnect the Ribbon Cable
1 minAlign the interconnect ribbon connector over the sub-board header and press down firmly until it snaps into place.
