Step-by-step
- 1
Power Off the Phone
1 minImmediately turn off the LG V10 to prevent short circuits. Do not attempt to charge the device while wet.

Remove the Back Cover
1 minPry up the flexible rear cover starting from the notch near the bottom corner using a plastic opening tool.

Remove the Battery
1 minLift the battery out from the bottom indentation in the battery bay. Set it aside in a dry location.

Eject SIM and MicroSD Cards
2 minSlide out the SIM card and microSD card from their respective slots above the battery housing.

Unscrew the Midframe
5 minUse a Phillips #00 screwdriver to remove all 18 screws securing the rear midframe to the chassis.

Pry Off the Rear Frame
3 minInsert a plastic opening tool between the frame perimeter and display assembly to unclip and remove the rear midframe.

Disconnect Front Camera Connectors
2 minUse a plastic opening tool to gently pop off the dual front camera press connectors from the motherboard.

Disconnect Display and Touch Connectors
2 minCarefully pry up the main display and digitizer press-fit flex cables near the upper edge of the motherboard.

Disconnect Additional Flex Cables
2 minUnclip the remaining flex connectors, including the headphone jack connector near the bottom of the board.

Lift Out the Motherboard
3 minCarefully lift the motherboard out of the phone frame, taking care not to snag any lingering cables.

Inspect for Corrosion
4 minExamine both sides of the motherboard under magnification for white, green, or black corrosion deposits.

Scrub the Motherboard with Isopropyl Alcohol
10 minSubmerge or soak the motherboard in 99% isopropyl alcohol and scrub corrosion spots gently with a soft brush.

Clean Internal Frame Components
5 minWipe down the interior frame, camera modules, and speaker contacts with a lint-free cloth dampened with isopropyl alcohol.

Dry All Components
15 minPlace the motherboard and frame in a well-ventilated area and let them air dry completely for at least two hours.

Reinstall the Motherboard
3 minAlign the dried motherboard with the frame housing and gently press it into place until it sits flush.

Reconnect All Flex Cables
4 minPress all display, camera, and secondary flex connectors firmly onto the motherboard until they click into place.

5 minSnap the rear frame back onto the display assembly and reinstall the 18 Phillips #00 screws tightly.

Reinsert Cards and Battery
2 minInsert the SIM and microSD cards back into their slots, drop in the battery, and snap the rear cover closed.
