Step-by-step

Power Down the Device
1 minPress and hold the power button, then select Power Off on the screen. Ensure the device is completely shut down before starting.

Remove the Back Cover
1 minInsert a plastic opening tool into the notch at the bottom corner of the phone. Pry the flexible rear cover up and lift it away from the chassis.

Remove the Battery
1 minUse your thumb or a plastic tool at the bottom recess to lift the battery out of its compartment. Set the battery aside on a clean, non-conductive surface.

Eject SIM and MicroSD Cards
1 minSlide the SIM card and microSD card out of their respective slots using your thumb or tweezers. Set them aside for safety.

Unscrew the Midframe
3 minUse a Phillips #00 screwdriver to remove all 18 screws securing the plastic rear midframe. Keep all screws organized by location.

Detach the Rear Midframe
2 minInsert a plastic opening tool between the midframe bezel and display assembly along the sides. Unclip the internal plastic tabs and lift the midframe off the phone.

Disconnect Display Flex Connector
1 minUse the flat end of a spudger to pry the display cable press connector straight up off the motherboard.

Disconnect the Front Camera
1 minPry up the front-facing camera connector from the top section of the motherboard using a spudger.

Lift Out the Motherboard
2 minGently lift the main logic board starting from the top edge and lift it out of the screen assembly housing.

Remove the Microphone Gasket
1 minUse fine tweezers to gently lift the small rubber acoustic boot off the microphone port located near the bottom edge. Save this rubber boot for the new module.

Disconnect Lower Daughterboard Flex
2 minPry up the lower microphone and audio flex cable connector from the daughterboard socket using a plastic spudger.

Install New Microphone Module
2 minPlace the replacement microphone flex board onto the alignment pins at the bottom of the frame and press down firmly to connect it.

Reinstall Rubber Acoustic Boot
1 minUse tweezers to seat the rubber gasket directly over the new microphone hole to ensure proper sound isolation and noise cancellation.

Reassemble Logic Board and Frame
5 minLower the motherboard back into position, reattach all display and camera flex connectors, reattach the midframe, and reinstall the 18 Phillips screws.
After your LG V10 microphone repair
Power the V10 back on and test the microphone repair function before you put every screw away. Check touch/display response, charging, cameras, buttons, and wireless as relevant to this repair.
