Step-by-step

Heat Rear Glass
3 minApply heat evenly to the back cover using a heat gun set to low for 2 to 3 minutes to soften the perimeter adhesive.

Slice Rear Glass Adhesive
3 minAttach a suction cup near the bottom edge of the glass and insert a thin opening pick once a small gap opens.

Slice Perimeter Adhesive
4 minSlide opening picks around all four edges of the back panel to cut through the remaining adhesive.

Lift Off Rear Glass
2 minGently lift the back glass panel off the chassis and place it on a clean surface.

Unbolt Midframe Screws
4 minRemove the 14 Phillips #00 screws securing the upper wireless charging shield and lower speaker housing.

Remove Upper Shield
2 minInsert a spudger under the upper motherboard shield assembly and lift it out of the frame.

Disconnect Battery
1 minPry the battery connector directly up from the motherboard using a plastic spudger to cut power.

Remove Speaker Assembly
2 minPry up the bottom speaker housing and remove it from the lower portion of the frame.

Disconnect Display Cable
1 minPry the display flex connector straight up off its socket near the lower right edge of the motherboard.

2 minDisconnect the optical fingerprint sensor flex cable connector from the sub-board.

Heat Screen Assembly
3 minApply heat across the front glass for 3 minutes to soften the adhesive bonding the screen to the frame.

Create Screen Separation Gap
3 minPress a suction cup near the top edge of the display glass and pull upward while inserting an opening pick.

Slice Front Screen Adhesive
5 minCarefully slide opening picks around the entire perimeter of the screen assembly to cut through the glue.

Remove Damaged Screen
2 minLift the display assembly off the phone frame, carefully feeding the display flex cable through the frame slot.

Clean Chassis Rim
4 minScrape away old adhesive residue and glass fragments from the inner rim using a flat spudger and isopropyl alcohol.

Lay New Frame Adhesive
3 minApply pre-cut double-sided display adhesive strips along the cleaned perimeter of the phone frame.

Thread New Screen Cable
2 minGuide the new display flex cable through the chassis slot as you lower the display into position.

Press Screen Into Frame
3 minAlign the screen with the frame edges and press firmly along all sides to set the adhesive.

2 minAlign the rear glass panel onto the phone frame and press firmly along the edges to seal it.
