Step-by-step

Power Off the Phone
1 minPress and hold the Power button on the side of the phone, then select Power Off on the screen. Ensure the device is fully powered down before continuing.

Eject the SIM Tray
1 minInsert a SIM eject tool or paperclip into the small hole on the SIM card tray. Press firmly until the tray pops out, then pull it out completely.

Heat the Back Glass
3 minUse a heat gun or hairdryer on medium heat to warm the rear glass edges for 2 to 3 minutes. This softens the adhesive securing the back panel.

Attach Suction Cup
1 minPlace a suction cup on the lower portion of the rear glass cover. Pull up gently on the suction cup handle to create a tiny gap at the bottom edge.

Slice Rear Glass Adhesive
4 minInsert a thin plastic opening pick into the gap created by the suction cup. Slide the pick around the perimeter of the rear panel to cut through the adhesive.

Disconnect Fingerprint Sensor
2 minSlightly lift the rear cover like a book cover from the left edge. Use a plastic spudger to snap the fingerprint sensor flex cable connector off the motherboard.

Unscrew Midframe Fasteners
3 minUse a Phillips #000 screwdriver to remove the fourteen screws securing the plastic midframe and wireless charging coil. Store them in a safe place.

Remove Upper Midframe Cover
2 minPry up the edges of the upper midframe assembly using a plastic spudger. Lift the shield away from the phone body and set it aside.

Disconnect Battery Connector
1 minLocate the battery flex cable attached to the motherboard. Pry the battery connector straight up with a plastic spudger to cut power to the device.

Disconnect Display Flex Cable
1 minLocate the display cable socket on the lower section of the main board. Use the flat tip of a spudger to carefully unclip the display flex cable.

Heat Front Screen Assembly
3 minApply heat evenly around the outer edges of the front display glass using a heat gun for 3 minutes to soften the screen glue.

Pry Screen Glass Away
5 minPress a suction cup onto the front glass and pull up to create a gap. Insert an opening pick and slice through the adhesive around all four edges.

Separate Screen from Frame
2 minCarefully lift the cracked display away from the phone body while feeding the display flex cable out through the frame slot.

Clean Frame Channel Residue
4 minScrape remaining adhesive and glass splinters from the frame rim using a spudger. Wipe the rim clean with isopropyl alcohol on a cloth.

Apply Screen Adhesive Strips
3 minLay double-sided adhesive strips along the top, bottom, and side ledges of the internal frame. Peel off the protective film from the top layer.

Install New Screen Assembly
2 minThread the flex cable of the new screen through the slot in the phone housing. Press the glass screen firmly into place around the entire edge.

Reconnect Display Cable
1 minAlign the display flex cable connector over its socket on the motherboard. Press down gently until it snaps into place.

Reconnect Battery Cable
1 minAlign the battery press connector over its motherboard terminal. Press straight down until you feel a firm click.

Reinstall Midframe and Screws
3 minPlace the upper plastic midframe back onto the chassis and press it down firmly. Secure it using the fourteen Phillips #000 screws.

Reseal Back Glass Panel
3 minReconnect the fingerprint sensor connector to the motherboard. Press the rear glass panel down firmly onto the chassis to set the adhesive seal.

Reinsert SIM Card Tray
1 minAlign the SIM card tray with the slot on the side of the device. Slide it completely into the phone until flush with the side frame.
