   Remove the SIM card tray

   Insert a SIM eject tool into the hole on the side of the device to pop out the SIM card tray, then remove it completely.

   Heat the back glass edge

   Use a heat gun or hairdryer on medium setting to warm the outer edges of the back glass for about two minutes to soften the internal adhesive.

   Apply a suction cup to the back cover

   Place a suction cup near the bottom edge of the back glass and pull gently upward to create a slight gap between the glass and the frame.

   Insert an opening pick into the seam

   Slide a thin plastic opening pick into the gap created by the suction cup to separate the adhesive seal.

   Slice the perimeter adhesive

   Gently slide the opening pick around all four edges of the back cover, reheating as necessary to release the glue.

   Disconnect the fingerprint sensor flex cable

   Carefully tilt the back glass open from the right side and use a spudger to detach the fingerprint reader connector from the motherboard.

   Remove the upper shield screws

   Use a Phillips #00 screwdriver to remove the screws securing the upper midframe and wireless charging coil guard.

   Remove the wireless charging coil assembly

   Pry up the edges of the wireless charging coil bracket using a plastic spudger and lift the assembly out of the phone.

   Disconnect the battery cable

   Use the flat end of a plastic spudger to pop the battery flex connector off the motherboard to safely cut power.

    Unscrew the loudspeaker assembly

    Remove the Phillips #00 screws holding the loudspeaker module over the lower sub-board.

    Remove the loudspeaker module

    Insert a pry tool under the lip of the loudspeaker housing and lift it clear of the bottom chassis.

    Disconnect the main interconnect flex cable

    Use a spudger to disconnect the ribbon cable connector linking the main motherboard to the lower microphone sub-board.

    Disconnect the coaxial antenna cables

    Use fine tweezers to gently unsnap the white and black antenna cable heads from the lower sub-board.

    Pry up the microphone daughterboard

    Insert a flat plastic opening tool beneath the daughterboard and gently lever it out of the lower recessed frame.

    Position the new microphone board

    Align the replacement microphone sub-board into the bottom chassis and press it down until it sits completely flush.

    Reconnect antenna cables and flex connectors

    Snap the antenna cables and the main interconnect ribbon cable securely back onto their respective terminals on the new board.

    Reinstall the loudspeaker

    Set the loudspeaker module back over the lower sub-board and tighten the Phillips screws until snug.

    Reconnect the battery and test functionality

    Reconnect the battery flex cable, temporarily boot the phone, and test audio recording to confirm the microphone functions properly.

    Reinstall upper shield and back cover

    Reattach the top shield with its screws, apply fresh adhesive tape to the perimeter frame, and press the back glass down firmly.
